I did it in the Mario forum, and I'll do it here. But since there's so many kickass weapons, there won't enough room for a poll.

Ok, so nobody can go wrong with the Masamune. Or the Buster Sword. But the most kickass weapon is in FFVI. The Valiant Knife. It looks like a friggin light saber! And that's cool! The next best is also in that game: Atma Weapon. That sword kicks ass, and it looks kinda cool for 16-bit at that! Now, what are your fav weapons in the series?

I dont remember a spoon in FFVI.....

My weapons of choice were always the Atma Weapon and the Illumina. I liked Setzer's darts and Sabin's claw.

The spoon was an Final Fantasy IV thing...i believe it was taken out of the SNES version of the game. The only way you could have gotten it was to use Cheat Device to get it (if you wanted to get it while playing the game and not have to save state hack it)

The DRESSPHERE!

Being able to have several different fighting styles to choose from, and switching them up on the fly is just too cool. I'm surprised nobdy else mentioned it...

I liked the Assassin Knife in FF6. Auto-killing people is a great way to get out of a battle you don't want to be in.

Ah, the atma weapon was great cause the stronger you were the bigger it would get on the screen. I also loved all the long ranged weapons from that game, equip Locke with theif glove and gengi glove, or offering, items up the wazu. Actually the greatest stealing combo would be thief knife x2, genji glove, and offering. I also loved having sabin with two most powerful claws and genji and offering to do mad damage.

Poor sap, the spoon is in FF4, used to be thrown at Odin for 9999 damage. To any other monster, it only does 1 damage. At least I think, I always beat him up old school style.

As for me....... I dunno. For cheapness, I use Atma Weapon from FF6, in back row, with Offering, lots of damage. FF5: Masamune, because it gives the auto-first command to whoever wears it. FF1, FF2, FF3, FF7, FF8, FF9, FF10, all pointless.

But isn't FF 3 the same as 6 Lenophis? Why do you say that FF3 is pointless?

I'm talking about the weapons in game, they only hit harder as you move along. Nothing special about them. I can go over them all if you like.
FF1: No weapons with anything nifty about them.
FF2: Ripper dagger, but it doesn't even work.
FF3: The "evil" weapons prevented monsters from splitting on hits, but once you got strong enough, then you can kill them in one hit.
FF4: Spoon isn't a weapon, it's something cheap to help you get Odin in the US version. No other weapons come to mind.
FF5: Double Lance, but the weapon is weak, and easily replaced. Brave Blade and ChickenKinfe however, are both the best. Brave Blade is great only if you never run at all. (If you run once, it's power is already cut by 50% or something like that. You cannot recover it either.) ChickenKnife powers up if the more you run.
FF6: Valiant Knife and Atma Weapon. Valiant Knife gets stronger based on HP missing, Atma Weapon (Ultima Weapon if you like the real translation) gets stronger based on HP being full.
FF7: No weapons with effects.
FF8: Yeah right.
FF9: Unless you had "Add Status" equipped, just as pointless.
FF10: Unless you manually added the right effects, just as pointless.

Edsgravy0, when I say FF3, I mean FF3, not FF6.

You do realize, that it IS possible to get effects on FF7 weapons with Added Effect + Attack Spell Materia (IE Fire, Poison, Lightning, etc)

Oopsie, forgot about the materia. =\ That does more or less follow the same logic as FF9 and FF10 though, so, again, pointless.
