I'm pretty sure I've mentioned this before and that it was mentioned before a few times on the old board...but just for the sake of mentioning and for the fact that some of our new people may not have seen this or some of the old folk may have forgot about it... Go here. Basically, as the website put it, it's: 'a website dedicated to reviving the video and computer game music of yesterday, and reinterpreting that of today, with new technology & capabilities. This site's mission is to prove that this music is not disposable or merely just background, but is as intricate, innovative, and longevous as any other form.' Basically, if you're into a lot of the vid game music...you'll definitely go for this modernization and interpretation of some of these works...I got into it about two years ago and have been going through it off and on...but there's some really decent stuff in here. And just so you don't get lost in what to get...I kinda figured I might as well post the thread here and have others post some of their favorites...there's also a forum on said site as well. Anyways, some that you might want to start out with...if you're close to stuff I kind like genre-wise, be on the lookout for these: Chrono Trigger - Revival Day Impoetus - Remixer: djpretzel Final Fantasy 6 - Squaresoft Variation - Remixer: Jeremy Soule (professional game music composer, btw) Super Metroid - Zebesian Midnight - Remixer: Vigilante Street Fighter 2 - Sagat's Moonbike - Remixer: Mazedude (kickass remixer) Punch-Out!! - Little Mac's Confession - Remixer - Game Over (this has LYRICS!!) I'll leave it at those five...I have about a hundred or so myself...but those are the ones I felt worth mentioning and leave it open for other people to post what they've got/heard/etc. EDIT: Damn colon messes up on posts. I think this is where Joseph Blanchett(Legendary Frog) got one of the songs for one of his flash movies. I think it's Chocobo_Robo_Voice by Joe Redifer.

This is probably the most wierd remix I ever heard More calm than the orginal version... thought I would like a Remix of Radio2. Also from one of my favorite games, he took a spooky tune and turned into something nice... thought I would like a remix from No mercy to. A remix of my favorite video game tune... sadly it's not that good. But it's the only unoffical one... oh well. And the orginals is on http://www.frankklepacki.com/, yeah I like the music in the CnC games (I own all of them... expect for generals and Sole survivor). But there are so few remixes of them... One thing I wonder about is why Bouche hadn't uploaded anything there... after all his remixes is better than most of them there. (edited by Kitten Yiffer on 05-19-04 07:25 AM) |

Someone's a Terra mark. I need to redownload a bunch of stuff from it (didn't keep all of it on my old HD) but pretty much any file on the site is of good quality. Just depends where your tastes lie. ...Some DAMN good Castlevania remixes though. |

Some of my favorite remixes: Bomberman - 'Bomberfuzz' by Fuzz | Ooooh, fuzz! Doom 2 - 'Barrels O' Fun' by Mazedude | Lots of twists 'n' turns Doom - 'demonik elektronik' by analoq | Great lead. The voice just makes it better. Doom - 'Synthetic Demon (E1M5)' by Scott Peeples | Great mix. Starts slow and gets heavier as it progresses Luigi's Mansion - 'That Balcony Thing' by DJ Carbunk1e | Spoooky Mega Man X - 'Airbased' by Chikusho Sound Team | Loads of guitars River City Ransom - 'RiverCityRammstein' by Mazedude | Great industrial track Soul Blazer - 'Tears For a Moonlit Knight' by Israfel | Starts out simple. Doesn't stay that way for long though Super Mario Bros. - 'MariosTropicalParadise' by Dr. Fruitcake | Very tropical. Yeah Super Mario World - 'Super Mario's Sleigh Ride' by Dale North,Mustin,OneUp Mushrooms | I'm a sucker for sax |

Yeah, it gets kind of annoying after a while. It was good the first few times though. But I should probably take it out of my favorites folder

*looks at new site* I think that it is a bit easier on the eyes. Anyway, they have Iori Yagami from KOF 2003 as one of those dudes in the corner, but they really dont have any good KOF music on the site. I am trying to make my own remix right now. A very cliched song-- the opening music for Megaman 2. I use FruityLoops 4. I kind of need to know the notes of the fast-paced music, because that's what I am CREATING, not EDITING. |

I personally see nothing wrong with the use of a MIDI to help me figure out notes. And by that I mean downloading something off of VGMusic.com and running it through a composer program so I can see the notes (This assumes several things...for one, my ears are developed enough that I can tell when something is "off" between the MIDI and the original). Of course, I make sure I create everything on my own. |

It seems like the characters in the upper right corner are randomized. First it was Nall, a character from Lunar Legend/Silverstar and then it was a guy who I think comes from a Castelvania game or something... |
