Once upon a time (I'd wager about five years ago), I went to visit my grandmother, who lives way the hell out of town. Along the way, we stopped into a church, or a hall, or some sort of thing, where they were selling all sorts of things. Most of the goods were little crap like rugs and broken TVs and random other gizmos, but I found one interesting table. They were selling an Atari for twenty-five cents (Canadian, by the way), and Atari games for ten cents or less each. I checked my pockets, I had no change. I went to my mother, asked her for a buck, and she asked me what I wanted to buy. At this point, she was reaching into her pockets. As I told her what I wanted to get, she refused to give me the money. The reason was that sometime around then she had said that she wasn't going to finance my video game addiction any more. I could have had an Atari and at least eight games for a dollar! Surprisingly, I didn't really mind at the time. Looking back on it now, I think it's rediculous, but it still doesn't actually bother me. The consolation is that I don't think I would have used the Atari that much, even though it would be a fun thing to have. Oh, and for anyone who's wondering, she soon after reverted back to not caring about my video games. It was really just more a of a phase she was going through at the time. |

Heh, I've never seen a good deal for an Atari at garage sales. Usually they're overpriced by a good $10-15 dollars, and without any rare games to boot. | |||

To answer the topic, I think very fondly of garge sales. To answer your first question me. I found a graded pristine Steve Young 1984 Topps U.S.F.L rookie valued at over a thousand dollars. I got it for five dollars. To answer your other question I kept it. |
