I hadn't seen a topic on it yet, so I figured: what the hell, I'll make one. So, there's this new game apparently coming to the U.S. called Kirby and the Amazing Mirror. That's a really stupid name. But the game itself... seems worth it!

Flagship designed this game much more than HAL, but that doesn't mean I'll like it less! As a matter of fact, I love it so far! I've taken some shots from the Jap version. Let's look at what all is new in the game!

New abilities! Just as you'd expect. This is halo/angel/cupid whatever Kirby. He can fly around just like UFO Kirby, but is a bit different, and shoots arrows instead of varying lasers! The gameplay for this game is very similar to Kirby's Adventure and Nightmare in Dream Land, but is different in an ever so slight way:

COUNT TEH KIRBY!!! Yep, there's 4! This game is like a Four Swords (see the 4 Kirby dudes again ) meets Kirby's Adventure/Super Star (some of the abilities were brought back from Super Star, like fighter) meets Metroid (because the game is VERY non-linear, and you can beat the bosses in any order). You can indeed play all the levels in any order, and the game is all about exploration! There are also some pretty tight new bosses... and then some weird ones. The above shot is from one of the last bosses in the ending sequence of bosses (there's like 7 battles you have to fight at the end).

GASP! What have they done to Wispy Woods? They have turned him into Stone! He is no longer the boss of Green Greens/Vegetable Valley anymore either! He is the boss of Moonlight Mansion! Amazing... well, all the bosses have pretty much been changed in some way, except for:

KRACKO! The only thing weird about him is his environment. He is the boss of Mustard Mountain, a volcano type level that could compare to Death Mountain in Four Swords.

That boss is very much like the old painter boss in KA/NiDL. Difference: he moves much more quickly, and you're fighting him on ice! And he looks cooler! He is the boss of Peppermint Palace... speaking of which, since I'm too lazy to show the other bosses, I'll just list the areas in the game!

-Rainbow Route
-Moonlight Mansion
-Cabbage Cavern
-Mustard Mountain
-Carrot Castle
-Olive Ocean
-Peppermint Palace
-Radish Ruins
-Candy Constellation (my fav area)

Yep, it's loaded! And the way the buddy thing seems to work is that the other Kirby characters have their own mind... yea... they basically do what they want. However, you can call them on your cell phone (which has a battery power of 3, meaning 3 calls max) and they will warp to where you are! They are very helpful for some puzzles, and they are even more helpful with most bosses! Now, I know some of you already have the rom and are thinking "old news pal!" but I wanted to share all this with those who haven't touched the rom.

So, who's looking forward to this game? I know I'll buy it when it hits stores (whenever that'll be). Any questions about the game, or any comments at all? No flaming me just because everyone's probably seen this already in rom format

Yeah, what's the phone in the top-left corner for? (I, shockingly, don't have any Kirby games but if this one is good I may buy it. That's not to say the other ones are bad though )

I love the look of this game. It'd be great fun to play it... I've heard only good things.

Two questions...

Firstly, is the game engine based on Nightmare In Dreamland rather than Kirby Superstar? I'm sure there's not a massive difference anyway, but I was wondering...

And secondly, what is the difficulty level like? If you compared it to previous Kirby games.

That phone is the one I referred to that calls your friends (which, if they're not in the same room as you, are pictured next to the phone). Calling them warps them to the room you are currently in. You can do this a maximum of 3 times. And from what I can tell, the phone charges after you beat a boss or reach a goal (which there are few of in the game). You call the friends by pushing R, and you can also summon a warp star to take you back to the main room with L.

1. The engine is based off of NiDL. There are just some abilities from KSS that were carried over, as well as some from NiDL, and even some new ones altogether.

2. The difficulty for just beating the game isn't too bad... it is all about getting the maps and finding the bosses in that case. However, if you want to get 100% on the game, you need to find all the treasure chests. Which can be very hard. One way or another, in comparison to other Kirby games, this might be able to be considered the hardest Kirby game yet. The only thing I can think of that would compare in other Kirby games would be the Extra Game in KA (which yes, in my mind, is harder than the extra game in KDL). But it is not ridicuously hard. Just harder than other Kirby games. And it's hella fun!!!

EDIT:

More eye candy for those in need:

Candy Constellation

The boss fight of Candy Constellation, which I think has been dubbed Master and Crazy Hand(s)

Rainbow Route; there's new enemies, as you can see.

I tried playing the rom of this. I kept getting lost. Finally, I just stopped playing.

Definitely not the best kirby game, that's for sure

It's awesome. Have had the rom for a good while. Can't wait for the US release. I ripped the Master/Crazy Hand sprites, they can be found here.

The world could always use another Kirby game. I'll probably end up trying this before I buy it, though. Interesting...

*DIRECTLY* out of Super Smash Bros. Melee, thank you very much. If so you're dead on with the names. Interesting boss selection, actually.

So... do they replace Lolo and Lala?

What's there to replace? They're not in NiDL.

Here are all the bosses I have seen in the game, except for the final ones, though I've fought them too (don't wanna spoil TOO much):

I'm just gonna dub him Wispy Woods, though he's a stone column now.

A mole... I'll dub him... Colleen!

Obviously it's Kracko.

He's a robot in shining armor... that perfectly describes Kirbynite, so that's what we'll call this boss.

A shark with a keen taste for Kirbies. We'll name him Fyxe.

Some magician guy. Yiffy Kitten's a magician, so we'll name this dude Yiffy Kitten.

You fight Dark Metaknight in the Radish Ruins. But Dark Metaknight is a stupid name, so we're renaming this guy to be... JDavis!

Master and Crazy Hand... well... that sounds boring, and it's been used already. So it will now be Kirby all the way and Weasley hand!

And JDavis, I heard that Master and Crazy hand use seperate sprites in the game! Is this true? It would make no sense for that to be the case!

Oh, and Weasel, it might be the best Kirby game. Though I still like KA and KSS a LOT, there's no doubt that this could compare with those, if for nothing else than the non linearity.

Oh, by the by, they have brought back the Megaton Punch as Gigaton Punch, but I hear the American name will be something stupid like "Cracking Smacking" or something. And Samurai/Shooter Kirby will be replaced by some eating mini game, and then the Air Ride/Grind minigame from NiDL will be replaced by a surfing game with the same concept.

Not in...

*shocked*

Well, Master/Crazy Hand are the closest to Lolo/Lala I'd think.

...That mole looks more like Mouser to me.

I don't suppose there's a 'play as Meta Knight' mode again, is there?

Master and Crazy Hand... Awesome.

Although I'd rather you hadn't given us images of ALL the bosses, even if you did leave out the final ones..

A month, or maybe even a couple months ago, I think. I don't actually know. I just know it was sometime this year, and more like when it was getting to Spring than in the winter part of the year.

I have my save file with 100% of the game done, and every little secret found to my knowledge, and it seems there's no way to do that.

And sorry for overspoiling with the bosses.

However, it's your job to find them. And there's tricks to beating certain ones, and I didn't tell you that, either So be happy!

EDIT: and trust me, finding ANYTHING in this game is easier said than done.

EDIT2+: And also, I'm not giving you music samples, Fyxe, though I could easily do so. And now I'm just making excuses to defend my overspoiling you. Sorry.

It's not so much the non-linearity that bugged me (KSS had the Great Cave Offensive, lord knows THAT was a big looped thing), but it's just the fact that you can get lost so easily and have no idea where to go next.

I keep hitting all these switches. Wtf do they do?

Sadly the Kirby games are so underated. I didn't hear so much about this game.

Heh, well, the Great Cave Offensive may have been one big loop, but that was actually one hell of a linear game. The most non linear game in KSS was easily Milky Way Wishes. And um, hint for playing this game: use the maps you get. On the pause screen, you can view your map by pushing select. Maps are VERY helpful when you're trying to find the bosses.

EDIT: Actually, the castle part of the Great Cave Offensive was very non linear. The rest of the cave was very linear, though. The treasure finding was still hard.

Those switches basically open up doors that link to either other levels, or back to the main area. It's meant to be a fast way to come back to places you've been to, or perhaps open up one secret room.
