I'll give you another victim. The sack was a laundry sack or something else with the culprit's name or address on it.

I'm going to say that he arrested them both, knowing that they were both somehow involved.

Teddylot: Nope, I don't burn staff or respected members of the board. It's against my policy. Announcer: This one's a toughy. It might take a few hints and guesses. |

Let's try this, then: The bushes the sack was left in were distinctive, maybe very thorny or poison ivy or something like that, and when the two men were called in, one had telltale pricked arms or a poison ivy rash. |

Cleaning up NSNick's guess a bit... The sack the initals "S.S." on it. The bush the sac was in was poison ivy. Shadow calls the guys in, sees the rash, and boom... hello guilty party |

Teddylot: And the correct answer goes to Akmlm!!! Announcer: No! You half-retard! NSNick gets the point! Teddylot: Well ... it seemed right. Announcer: Well, I bet it seemed right to ziratha as well. |

My guess: Neither one. Shouldn't it be 12:00:00 A.M. on January 1, 2000? |

And in case that isn't, I believe that technically, the beginning of the twenty-first century is 12:00:00 AM, January 1st, 2001; since there is no year 0.

That one was way too easy. Let's make it more complicated! How about, "Ah, but he didn't say Christian century! If you're Muslim, the answer is the first of Moharram, A. H. 2001"!

Its 12:00:01 on Jan 1st, 2001 Once that first second has passed, there has been enough time for 20 centuries and we begin filling up that 'time box' for century 21 |

Kirby, I think Nick's answer is the right one. With yours, 12:00:00.99 would still be in the previous century, and it isn't. 11:59:59.999999.... is the last moment of the old century, and 12:00:00.0000... begins the new one.

Announcer: Well, Smallhacker did answer the question correctly, but NSNick gave the "why" I was looking for ... soooo I'll give both of them one point. Teddylot: Yay! Everybody's a winner! ... Except for Heian, I guess ... yeah. And Kirby ATW ... he didn't get it right either. Question 86: What runs fore to aft on one side of a ship, and aft to fore on the other side? (Besides a drunken sailor. -- Technical Crew =P) Announcer: They put the pirate-y words in there to confuse you. Teddylot: ... am I missing somebody? I could've sworn there was another wrong answer in there. |

The wind? You're basically saying that it's something that runs in the same direction no matter where you are on the ship, it's just that on the front side of the ship the wind is running from front to back, and on the backside of the ship it's running from what you percieve as the back (which is still the front) to the front (which was previously the back). So it's running in the same direction all the time.

Announcer: Hmm, I'd patch up my pirate-y terminology if I were you. Teddylot: And don't do that much thinking ... It's not helping you very much. |

I have two guesses, neither of which seems any good. I'll start off with this one: The name. Since it always goes left to right, on one side it would run fore to aft, and on the other it would run aft to fore.

Where I live, the name of the boat always starts at the bow. I'll go with the indoor running track, which is a counterclockwise oval and will follow the path Teddylot describes. |

Teddylot: Well, Heian's answer sounds right, but since this certain ship doesn't have an indoor running track, I'm going to have to go with NSNick's answer. Screen of Points: NSNick -- 27 points Jagori -- 21 points Kirby ATW -- 11 points Emptyeye -- 8 points Kefka -- 6 points Felix -- 6 points LostAuzzie -- 3 Points wolfman2000 -- 3 points Grey -- 3 points SmallHacker -- 3 points JJ64 -- 2 points geeogree -- 1 point Ultimanium -- 1 point neotransotaku -- 1 point Screen of Shame: Jarukoth -- 0 points Edsgravy0 -- 0 points Xkeeper -- 0 points ETG -- 0 points kornfan -- 0 points Heian-794 -- 0 points Banzai_Bill -- 0 points Akmlm -- 0 points Screen of Valiant Effort: Apple -- 0 points Screen of "Dude, I'd Wear a Paper Bag Over My Head if I Were You" ziratha -- -1 Points Teddylot: NSNick's on a role with Jagori's absence. Announcer: You know, whenever you say that, Jagori just seems to pop out of nowhere and catch right back up. Teddylot: I'm thinking that's the point. Announcer: Oooh, clever ... clever. Question 87: If you screw a lightbulb into into a socket by turning the bulb toward the right with your right hand, which way would you turn the socket with your left hand in order to unscrew it while holding the bulb stationary? Teddylot: A nice easy one to bait Jagori into creating tension. Announcer: Oh, you tricksy bear. *french chucle* You have outdone yourself. |

It depends on with direction your holding the socket, from the top or the bottom. |
