Question 25:

It was in the fall of 1962 that a man went to town with $50 in his pocket, but he returned at night with $150. He bought a hat at a clothing store and some apples at the market. Then he had his eyes tested. He gets paid every Thursday by cheque. The banks are only open on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. The eye doctor is closed on Saturday. The market stays closed on Thursday and Friday. On what day did the man go to town?

Tuesday. That day, the market is open, the eye doctor is open, and the bank is open. He forgot to deposit his check from the week before, so he did it on Tuesday, which is why he ended up with more money than he started with.

EDIT: changed "saturday" to "week"

This one's too easy, Teddylot. Extra Sensory Perception, more commonly referred to as ESP, is what the condition used to describe someone who is psychic. Therefore, the three letters are ESP!

EDIT: and if you're wondering why the reply was so fast, its because it was SO DAMNED EASY!

Question 26:

Neon Slick adjusted his sunglasses as he sped down the winding mountain road into town. Being very nearsighted, he required corrective lenses. Arriving at the optician's, he tried on his new lenses, and since he could now see perfectly, decided to wear them home. On his way back, Neon saw his brother-in-law, Sid Shady. He stopped and a violent argument ensued. Sid picked up a rock and smashed it on Neon's forehead, killing him. Sid then put the dead body into the car. Seeing Neon's sunglasses on the passenger seat he slipped them on Neon and then pushed the car off the road down a steep ravine. When Shadow examined the body he declared that it was no accident but a heinous murder. Why was Shadow convinced that Neon was murdered?

Hmmm... well, I had trouble finding the trick word, cause you usually have one... the trick word here I think is "lenses"... we think of glasses to be lenses, but the lenses were not the sunglasses, but instead, contact lenses... So Sid put the sunglasses on him, not knowing that he was already wearing the contact lenses. My guess, anyway. I'm probably wrong. Cause that makes no sense to do such a thing... with my luck, the lenses actually were the sunglasses. Oh well, I should take a break from these things for a few days. They're making my head hurt.

EDIT: and if I'm wrong, then you need to rephrase it. Because if you think lenses can only be glasses, then you need to say "glasses" because I wear contact lenses, which is why I guessed maybe you were referring to those here.

Assume that 'lenses' could be a pair of glasses, and... he could've already been wearing the glasses, and Sid slid on the sunglasses; he's now wearing two, but who the heck is stupid enough to do that on their own?

Just a guess, and I doubt I'll get it =P

Oh... I think Ive got it, or a good educated guess

Mr Slick here had never taken off his sunglasses, and had put on the new glasses over the sunglasses.... somehow the glasses had come off when he was murdered, and the order in which the glasses was on was switched... so it was glasses on sunglasses... then it was sunglasses on glasses.

Farfetched, but hey, possible

The sun had set by the time Neon had got done with the optician and started to drive home, so there was no way he would be wearing sunglasses.

Teddylot: Out of all of you, Xkeep has the closest answer. He's just missing one small detail that'll give him the points.

Announcer: Kirby ATW wasn't that close, and NSNick was way off. Remember, Shadow didn't know that Slick went to the optometrist's. Therefore, to Shadow, Neon could've been murdered at any time during the day.

*Somebody from the third row, six seats from the left stands up*

"THE GLASSES WERE SMASHED BUT NOT THE SUNGLASSES," he shouts.

The embaressed woman next to him yanks on his sleeve and he sits down.

The sunglasses were prescription sunglasses, so when Sid put them on over his glasses, Neon then had on two prescription pairs of lenses, which would not allow him to see.

Ok, see, you shoulda said glasses. Cause I was 100% sure the trick word was lenses, so I assumed they were contact lenses. OK, then I'll take one last wild guess since NSNick probably got it.

Shadow knows Neon very well, and he knows the difference between the prescription ones and normal ones. The prescription ones shattered in the murder, so Sid thought he could get away with putting his own sunglasses on him. And when Shadow found the car, he found the sunglasses that Neon was wearing, as well as the ones that were shattered and on the ground. This made him suspect that one was his prescription and the other was not, since the glasses were probably designed for different sight. So he suspected a murder.

Oh, jeez.

It just occured to me.

Note.

Neon Slick adjusted his sunglasses as he sped down the winding mountain road into town. Being very nearsighted, he required corrective lenses. Ah, dammit. The glasses he was wearing were smashed from the rock; the sunglasses weren't.

Either that or it's too damn late to be doing this.

Edit: I missed the lenses thing. Sid put on the prescription sunglasses on Neon, who had his new lenses in. That would make it a lot easier for Sid to make that mistake.

He was hit on the forehead with the rock right, this must have caused some sort of bruising or bleeding which Shadow knew could not have occurred from a car crash.
Either that or he knew there was no way Neon's sunglasses could have stayed on.
