Question 17:

Sid Shady and Sam Slug were in a plane flying off the coast of South America at 300 meters altitude. Sid and Sam were in this situation as a result of a bet. Sam claimed that if he dropped a five kilogram steel ball from the plane six seconds after Sid dropped a five kilogram sack of feathers, the steel ball would hit the ground first. Which of the two will actually hit the ground first?

They won't hit the ground at all. They'll hit the water.

And the steel ball will hit the water first. Air resistance.

If they're both in identical sacks, the air resistance won't be any different for the ball than it would be for the feathers; and since they're off the coast, the sack of feathers will hit the water first, becaue they fall at equal speeds and the feathers were dropped first.

The steel ball will be more likely to his the ground first, though, because the feathers will probably absorb some water and retain some air, giving them some degree of boyancy, and causing them to either float to the top, or fall slower in the water. The ball will retain little to no air, have little to no boyancy, and fall all the way to the bottom of the ocean.

Ball hits surface of water second, but hits the ground at the bottom of the ocean first. The feathers will hit the ground much later (if they hit the ground at all).

Teddylot: Nice try everyone, except for Kirby ATW that is.

Announcer: And the answer we were looking for was that neither of the bags would hit the ground first because both would hit the water. Since NSNick answered the question first, the point goes to him. That answer was all we were looking for.

Question 18:

Professor Bumble has a box of socks in his closet containing 24 red socks and 24 green socks. Bumble wants to be certain his socks match, but cannot see the colours since his closet is completely dark. What is the smallest number of socks that Bumble needs to remove from the box in order to be certain of having two socks of the same colour? Explain.

Teddylot: *looks at answer* I'm not really getting this.

Announcer: Oh, and here's a public service announcement:

This show will be on hiatus starting five o'clock tonight until sometime tommorow. I know it doesn't seem like a long time, but the Public Service department doesn't want any people to worry about the world's most favorite show . . . yeah. Oh, and there are possibilities of flash floods and tornadoes in the Michigan region. *a warning symbol appears on the bottom of the screen* Thank you for being so patient.

Teddylot: Hey, these things are blocking my view--

Announcer: If you were deprived of seeing this public service announcement or use this time period to go to the bathroom, please go to the Public Service Department's website. And now, for those forgetfuls among us, here's the question again.

*buzzes in*

To be ABSOLUTELY SURE, he needs to pull out THREE socks. If two is pulled out, it could be a red and a green, but the third will definitely match with one of the two.

Teddylot: Darned it! I can't see anything with these stupid symbols in my way. *tries to get around them*

Announcer: *pushes Teddylot off to the side* Well, another public service announcement has made its way onto our screen.

Erm . . . in actuality, the "hiatus", in question, has been postponed 'til tommorow for a few hours. Oh, and the flash flood/tornado warnings will be in effect until 11 p.m. tonight, EST!

Question 20:

Sam Slug and Sid Shady were trying to snitch a few oranges from an orange grove but found them to be out of reach. Since Slug stands six feet and Shady stands five feet, Slug invited Shady to stand on his shoulders in order to reach the fruit. Shady climbed up on Slug's shoulders, but even then the fruit was just beyond Shady's grasp. Would it make any difference in reach if Slug was to stand on Shady's shoulders? If so, Why?

Yeah. Slug is a bit taller, so logic says his arms would add a few more inches than if Sid was on top.

Question 21:

A man walked into the 'Salty Dog Tavern' and ordered a fish fillet sandwich, a glass of rum, and some female company. The proprietor turned to him and said, "Look sailor, the first two requests are no problem, but the third request is out of my hands." What made the proprietor think the man was a sailor?

Colour the water with colouring that does not mix, this way you can tell the water by its colour.
