Edit: I doubt it was a virus you probably hit a key and it went all buggy.:/ I never heard nor seen that before though.

That's what I'd have expected. Except one thing, mine is PC100, and it wouldn't work at all with PC133. It would start up and try to load, but XP would fail to find some files and Linux would crash. (Plus some video errors, which may or may not have been because of static buildup in my crappy video card. )
If there is a way to fix that, I'd like to hear it...

no idea... as i said, you should be able to use PC133 RAM in a computer that requires PC100 RAM...maybe you have to fiddle with the RAM clock settings or something...I'm not sure. It worked in my Dell, but my dell had a really simple BIOS and only 1 jumper...
