I'm assuming that other areas have these. Am I right? For those not in the know, AP exams are exams done in high school that are applicable for credit in post-secondary school. I myself just finished an AP Psychology exam. Anyone else here done/planning to do one of these? |

Nope, we don't have those in Norway. This country is extremely egalitarian, thus the thought of having some students placed in "expert"-classes kind of doesn't go well with the entire nation's mentality.

Only the high schools that could afford it. Going through the small school (92 total in high school the year I grad'd) they didn't have the funds to afford it or the teachers qualified enough to teach it. Course it figures...the final year of high school we get this really really nice and really good English teacher (I tell you...no joke...my English improved ten-fold after that year...swear to Kami-Sama on that one) who starts AP English the year AFTER I graduate. The only AP class in the high school. I hope they're doing better now over there...I haven't checked up on them in a while minus my friend who's already graduated. |

Unfortunately, no. I am sorry to say that out of everyone in my town who is a member of this board (Trunxy, Silvershield, and Me), I am the dumbest out of the three of us. I was planning to take the English AP, but I wasn't reccomended for it. Oh well, my favorite teacher is still going to be teaching my class next year...yow. |

Our school had a pretty good AP program, along with a good PSEO program, both of which I was in. I took AP US History (3) my junior year, and AP Physics (5), AP Calc (AB Class, I took the BC test, got a 4 with an AB subscore of 5), and AP Government (3). I also took English and a computer class in PSEO, so I entered college with about 35 credit hours down already (needing 45 to become a sophomore).

a big waste of money...I took only two in high school: US History AP (3) and Statistics AP (4) and I haven't used either when I came to college. However, I did take English Honors but didn't take the test. My school also offered AP Physics but I didn't take it either. However, I did enter college with 77 transferrable college units I took from a community college...that was worth the money as all my 77 units were free and a whole lot less stressful than the AP classes amazingly. so yeah, my stance on AP: take the classes but don't take the test OR don't take the classes and take the equivalent at Community College instead |

I took 7 AP exams when I was in high school: Jr. Year: AP Chemistry (4) AP US History (5) Sr. Year: AP English (Literature) (5) AP Calc A/B (5) AP Biology (5) AP US Gov (5) AP Comparitive Gov (5) I got some fancy AP scholar thing.. doesn't mean much, though. The credits didn't help me out at college (though it may at others), but it certainly looked good on my application to have those scores. I took every AP class at my school except Physics, and only not-physics because there was a schedule conflict... but I feel a lot more educated for having taken the classes. |

I took a few of them about 3 years ago. Came in really handy because my university gives a lot of credit for them. I was in U.S. History AP but didn't take the AP test. Of the AP tests I actually took: English Composition: 4 or 5, can't remember (no credit) Chemistry: 4 (5 credit hours) Calculus BC: 5 (8 credit hours) French Language: 2 (omg such a miserable test! I tested into 300 level anyways and got credit that way. None from the AP test) |

Yeah, I took my AP Computer Science Exam on May 4th. It was just me and two other people from my class taking it. There was 40 multiple questions, which was one part of the test that lasted an hour and 45 minutes I think. The other part was an hour and 45 minutes which was 4 questions, where you had to write methods (functions) for a program in pen. The other 11 or so people in my class don't care about their grade, I think they are immature morons anyways. What's cool though is our teacher says we don't have to take the final exam in his class unless we want to for extra credit, and he gave me and the two other guys a pizza party for taking the exam. And now we get to like take a break or whatever in the class, while the others still have to work, and do whatever we want. So I just play some SNES ROMs on the computer and stuff. My school has an amazing AP program which provides students with the ability to take over *counts* possibly 20 AP tests. I'm a sophmore right now and have only taken one test, AP US History (4 or 5, don't know yet), so far. I plan on taking plenty of other APs my next two years in high school and hope to take a total of eight or so by the time I graduate.

Umm..should have for AP Chem but uhh..I got an F which = 6% exactly. Well somewhere around that. I plan on next year for AP Spanish 4!! Lol heh..I heard that yeah you get the college credit but you have to take the classes for your major anyway. So there really is no point . Just a prep though.

Eh, Jarukoth isn't as stupid as he'd have people think; even if he were, he has strengths in other areas . Anyhow, I opted for two AP courses this year: Spanish and US History. I took both AP tests just recently, and while neither was easy, I can see myself getting at least a 3 on both. Hopefully. Next year is AP English and...European History? I'm not quite sure. Calculus, as well. I plan to pursue some sort of writing major in college, so the latter two are not so important. I'd hope to do well on the English, though. I managed a 77 out of 80 on the verbal part of the PSAT as a sophomore and, while that and the English AP test are most certainly different, I'd like to think that I have some skill with the subject . |

I was gonna take the AP European History test (yes, as a soph) this year, but I dropped out of that class cause I wasn't ready for it EDIT: and no, it didn't hurt my GPA I still have that 3.9 (edited by Kefka on 05-12-04 01:01 AM) |
