| Well I was checking RPgamer, minding my own business, and it's just announced Squeenix's E3 Schedule. Check it out Scroll to the bottom and tell me I'm not dreaming..... Under the mobile section, does that really say... Beyond Crisis:Final Fantasy VII So.. what do you think? Will this be a GBA game, a N Gage game or a PSP game. Is it set AFTER FFVII or before it (As "beyond Crisis" could refer to Jenova, the "Crisis from the Skies"). |

Dev houses aren't taking risks at the moment, and from the sounds of the title, it sounds like a spin off based in the FFVII universe along the lines of a minigame... I'm sorry about being so cynical, but the current state of the industry has left me feeling very jaded  |

| It's more than likely going to be a game for a type of mobile phone. Unfortunately. Over at http://www.adventchildren.net they have been discussing it, dug up proof, and pics and whatnot of it. Chickenlump, what you need to understand is: it's Final Fantasy! People will buy it no matter what it's on! The name sells. It can be total shit and sell well because it has Final Fantasy in the name. Everyone has cells these days, so it was probably smart for Square-Enix to make a cell phone game.  |

| The GBA would have enough power to render the basic characters, maybe the summons at a push, but it would have nowhere near enough space to store the pre-rendered backgrounds. The entire game would have to be re-made. | |||

| I think I'm the only one even slightly hopeful about this. I honestly think it could work, executed correctly of course. I've seen some awesome games run on the Symbian OS, and I think this kind of game would be perfectly suited to high-end phones. I have a Sony Ericsson P800, and I can't think of anything better than an RPG that would make good use of the touch screen. Menus would be quick and easy to navigate, slecting targets would be simple, it all makes sense. The only problem I can really see however is memory. A game with that much depth would would require an insane amount. |
