You know: the big, blue screen from Windows. It actually helped me once. A few months ago, I decided to vow against finding pr0n (I'll explain why someday). This self-imposed rule would have been broken if the "Blue Screen" didn't happen several days ago. BTW, it was the Windows 2000 type. Tell me about your BSOD stories! |

Claw, you realize that you basically broke your rule anyway, because I mean... you ATTEMPTED to find pr0n... that blue screen just got in your way though

Last time I saw a BSOD (and this is with Windows 2K Pro...scary no?) was when my registry for Windows got fucked up...so all that would happen would be the startup sequence...then it'd get to the top of the progress bar...then a blue screen would flash and the comp would restart...infinite loop. That happened about two weeks ago...and I had to reinstall Windows because of it...and of course...it was a prick to do because I had to create 4 boot disks to do so...since that's what requires (at least my version of it) Win2K Pro setup to run. GRRR... |

I seldom get them, I have sort of actually got them in Win XP. But I didn't see them. (Win XP have a option which restarts the computer instead of showing the BSOD, I seem to have that option turned on as the computer very rarely restarts mysteriously ) I'm abit annoyed how the task manager in XP works, it dosen't work so well with crashed games that are in fullscreen mode. Or at least with some of them. |

Any BSOD I get is because I pushed my computer too hard. SOMETIMES THIS THING JUST DOSENT WANT TO WORK! But thats not all, the whole comp freezes up, so I pull the plug. So far, nothing broken..... yet. |

Yeah, once... when it told me that my FAT was corrupted. That helps but it's also not the thing you want to see on your screen, especially on a school night. >< |

BSOD is never a welcome sign. Older Mac users, though, may remember the dreaded fatal errors - bomb dialogues. System 7.5 was certainly not that stable after sitting on the HD for a year.

Come to think about it, I haven't gotten a BSOD for a long time, since I got my new comp. But one thing I do know is that BSODs have never helped me. They have just been more of hassle than anything else. |

Never had a BSOD help me. Also never had one that hurt much... thankfully it has yet to happen when I have unsaved work Although, my computer just suddenly reset while I was in the middle of a great Warcraft 3 game a couple weeks ago And Unreal 2004 seems to enjoy making my video card crash somehow... |

I only ever got 2 BSODs that I regarded as important. One in WinXP - it crashes if I unplug the joystick while it's booting. The other in WinME, since it wasn't a standard BSOD - it was the HP logo. The damn thing rebooted itself because it was overheating.

For the interested, here's how to generate a BSOD under Windows XP. (Standard disclaimer: This involves fiddling with the registry. Fiddling with the registry might cause your computer to crash, eat your corn flakes, pour sugar down your gas tank and kill your grandma. If it does, be sure to post about it here so we all can laugh at you for fucking up. End disclaimer.) Oh, and here's how to generate a BSOD under Windows Me:

And people say it is so hard to mess up Win XP. Yeah I have read that tip once before, what it is useful for I don't know... I hate the control panel in Win XP, and how win XP have severeal flukes when it comes to handle troubling programs. Winamp is an pain to close whenever it get a memory leak. (due to the N64 plugin...) |
