Thanks to the person who gave me a link to a copy of an acmlmboard, but now I'm stuck. Who knows a good host that supports php and mysql, and is free? I will also look for one myself using Google.

I've seen a few people use Lycos for their AcmlmBoards. However, you are going to be constantly bothered by a border of advertisements around the board. Personally though, I don't use a free site -- it's better to use a pay site. But not everyone's able to pay for it so. . .

I decided to use Tripod. I set it up properly, but I get this garbled page:

http://ringodoggie.tripod.com/index.php

EDIT: WHOA!! phpmyadmin has 306 files!!! Do I really need it?!?

First of all, I had to get rid of like 8 pop-ups when I clicked on that link. Second of all, if you're seeing all of that garbage, then that webhosting doesn't support PHP and/or MySQL. You need to find a webhosting company that supports both of these, and that you have access to phpMyAdmin. Third of all, phpMyAdmin doesn't carry the "files" -- the MySQL database has them.

Those you have to pay for. Lycos isn't top choice, but paying for some things should be worth it.

RCTHost - Pay yearly, great rates among yearly rates. PHP and MySQL support.

FuitadNet - These guys kick ass, and will be the people I will use for hosting when my current subscription ends. Lowest monthly rates, and you get a ton for it, including PHP and MySQL support.

No no no, there is no Database on it anymore, so you can't have any of that PHP on tripod anymore. I would use Erk-Dog's host, it's cheap:

You guys did look at FuitadNET, right? You get more than Erk for less money, and it's a lower setup fee. Check it out.

Strange, the swedish tripod. (which is actually Spray) supports PHP. But then most people who starts websites here often does advanced ones.

BTW, yes FuitadNET had more generous hosting than Fifty pounds.

But then it's also about stability. A host which is only up 50% of the time is not good.

I just feel like I have to say this:

I'd be embarrassed to be the guy who made The-WebHost.com's page. It doesn't work. Yuck.

actually Cymoro you don't get "more" with Fuitad....

you get more harddrive space

but who the hell is gonna use 3 gigs any time soon ??

not to mention that his website isn't going to use 3 gigs of bandwidth much less 25 ... or the THIRTY I offer....

so basically.....

he would have better service and support with me, and it would be more of a personal business relationship instead of some mindless big company

and laff, metroid... you get less bandwidth, more harddrive space, and other than that... what does it have that I don't ?? some stupid control panel ?? I don't need a control panel.. just IM me and I"ll change whatever settings or do anything you want done....

and let's not forget about the simple fact that I host

ACMLM'S BOARD FOR FREE...

heaven forbid you buy webhosting from me, instead of buying the EXACT SAME THING from someone else.... I mean.... damn..... heaven forbid you support the person who gives ACMLM FREE WEBHOSTING......

that would just be insane I guess

Erk, i didnt know you hosted Acmlms board for free, and i also said, NO EFFENCE. some people may use 3 gigs if they host a lot of things and use the bandwisth for a lot of hits.

Personally, I'd rather have FULL control of what I can add and can't add on my website, and not have to wait for someone to come online when I have an epiphany. But hey, that's just me.

lol when you have an epiphany ??

what kind of possible "epiphany" could you have

that would be squashed by not being able to add an e-mail account or subdomain ??

ohh wait.....

I think strongbad has the answer....

I'll probably be setting up some sort of PHP hosting service... although if you have a very small site I might just host you right now. You get FTP/PHP/MySQL DB and phpmyadmin access. But it's a shit connection at the moment.
