Former Arizona Cardinals safety Pat Tillman was killed in Afghanistan yesterday. He quit football two years ago to serve as an Army Ranger, turning down millions (he was a very good player, setting the Cardinals record for tackles in 2000). He was 27.  |

| This story teaches us that our sports "heroes" are not heroes at all like Michael Jordan or John Elway. Pat Tillman was a real hero. Tillman gave up money and football to help out our country in Afghanistan. He will be missed by his family, friends, teammates and everyone esle that knew him. | Ruby Weapon, you're entirely right, but I'd like to further point out that, though Pat Tillman gave up a tangible and substantial sum to go to war, every other member of every other army does the same thing. While we remember the unimaginable sacrifice of a great football player and a great American, let us also remember those who didn't set sports records but made contributions far more important. | |||
