Which Mario RPG do you think is the best?
Mario has triple-jumped his way into the RPG genre over the past 8 years, but out of all three of the RPG's, which one do you think is the best? Why?

I myself am a die-hard, hardcore Mario fan.

I love the good ol' days of Mario, but I've got to admit, the RPG's rock severely.

Question is...Which one do you think is the best game of the three?

I personally think all three make a good set of games, and I like each one for different aspects.

The original was made by Squaresoft and had a feel to it that the other two never had.

Paper Mario had a more interactive battle system (Love badge points), more storyline elements, and was in general a very good game, I think.

Superstar Saga is packed with humor, has upbeat tunes, spiffy sounds, and excellent graphics, as well as an awesome battle system. But something was just missing from it that other two lacked.

Out of them all, I personally like Paper Mario the best. I fell in love with the characters and formed a lot of my fiction from its generalized storyline. The Honorable Star Spirits sort of jumped out of nowhere, but they open a whole new world to the imagination as far as writing fiction goes. Out of the three, it's inspired me the most.

The original Legend of the 7 Stars, partially due to it being made by Squaresoft, and I loved how Bowser teams up with Mario, something Nintendo themselves probably would have never done.

It's a close match-up. Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars was pretty good. It's very unique, however, I prefer Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga. ... Wait, no... I take back my vote. I like Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars better. Hey, someone that is going to vote for Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, vote for Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars instead, to make up for my change of mind after voting.

I liked Paper Mario's battle system better, but I think Square did a better job on the whole of making up Seven Stars. I haven't played Superstar Saga yet.

My vote goes to Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga.
Why? That's the only one I've played of those three.

Well, interesting...And someone voted for all of them sucking. Feh, I just threw that in there for the heck of it, but...Ah, well.

Yes, if only Squaresoft came back and did ANOTHER Mario RPG, I'll gurantee you I'd like it the most. But...Although excellent for its time, the other two games have come up with plenty of improvements.

M+L is great, but it just wasn't...BIG enough. I dunno, it just seemed too simple, no side quests. Paper Mario had sufficient extra stuff to get...

You forgot the "They were all good option*

Seriously though, I will play SMRPG the most, followed by M&L:SS and then Paper Mario.

Mario & Luigi.

Not a whole lot of replay value, but great music, and a great game.

Portability.

The one thing Superstar Saga has the others don't. I can't bring a Super Nintendo on the road.

Super Mario RPG, because it was more innovative, and the ideas for the other games stemmed from it. However, I am not going to vote, because Mario and Luigi is not far behind, being that it is mobile and also has some nice innovation... but also, the graphics were better for their time on SMRPG... not like graphics mean a whole lot... and I liked the SMRPG plot more, but I think in the humor category, M&L beats SMRPG.

Superstar by far. Your not limited to crappy stats (Paper Mario) or level limits 30/27
(SM RPG and PM) and it's humor isn't to shabby.

Hm. Yes, Superstar Saga IS great...

I didn't add a 'they all rock' part because everybody would vote that one, and it would defeat the wholepoint.

Portability...Hm...Didn't think of that, but yes...A distinct advantage...

But something, I can't what, just makes Superstar Saga not reach first on my list. It's just got a big empty gap in it...The other two don't have this, WHATEVER it is, but this one DOES...*shrug* I can't quite place it...

Agreed. Without Square, there was no more RPG epic feeling, thus killing the games. Actually, Superstar Saga was good, but its humor got kind of babyish sometimes, and the graphics were very texturous. Except for the water though, that sucked.
Paper Mario's battle system squished the gameplay, it was really odd, with only a few moves for each character.
But SMRPG had good graphics for its system, and the sprites were cool too. The plot was, well, Mario-ish.

Oh, yes, no denying it. But the original is not always the best. There's always room for improvement. I agree- without Square, it lost that real RPG-esqe feeling. But the battle system sucks, in my opinion. Yay, you can do more 'moves,' persay, but you don't DO anything, really.

I just like Paper Mario in general the most, I can't quite say why. If I had to choose one of the games to keep, though I own all three, I would choose the original, though, for it brings back teh most memories.

Paper Mario. It has the biggest replay value, and seems the most fun overall.

Hmmm....it's a tough decision between Paper Mario and Superstar Saga. SS has many uniquw features, a new storyline, and plenty else...but Paper Mario just has more of that certain charm you get when you play certain kinds of games. I'm sure everyone's felt it before, but it's impossible to describe.

I'll have to go with Paper Mario, then.

I loved Paper Mario. I even leeched the soundtrack off of Acmlm's secret site location thingy.

7 stars and M&L were both fantastic, but nothing beats a good ol' Mario whackin' in Paper Mario
