And Kobe. Don't forget him. He better not have any court dates during the playoffs... he always seems to play a great game whenever he's in front of a judge the same day. |

I thought he was done with his court stuff eh maybe that was something else. I never notice his change of play after he's in court.

I don't really care about the Kobe case anymore. How long has it been going on?

heh. in game 3, the pistons well and truly dominated the lakers, and won it 88-68. the pistons dominated the lakers in games 1 and 3, and the lakers were lucky to even win game 2. if the pistons keep their engine running the way it has been, and the lakers don't make any drastic changes, I'm prediting the pistons will win this series in game 6. I'm rooting for the pistons in this series, although I'm not so much rooting for the pistons as much as I am rooting against the lakers. 'my' team is the portland trailblazers, and they were swept out of the first round in the playoffs in 98 and 99- both times by the lakers- but managed to make it to the western conference finals in 2000... against the lakers. they made it all the way to game 7, and up until the fourth quarter were winning the game... then they decided they didn't want to score anymore. the lakers won that, and went on to defeat the pacers in the finals. the blazers could have beaten the pacers... so we were that close to a championship. I'm still pissed about that. lenophis is rooting for the pistons for the same reason as I am, although 'his' team is the minnesota timberwolves, who made it out of the first round this year and got to the western conference finals, but were shut out by the lakers, 4-2. when the series began, I figured that the pistons were the underdogs. with detroit's resounding game 1 and game 3 victories- and the fact that the lakers were lucky to even win game 2- I'm beginning to believe the pistons may really win this series. and I'm hoping they do. rasheed wallace- who was playing for portland in 1999-2000 (among other years)- wants retribution for the 2000 western conference finals, and so do I. Heh... I think at this point, everyone's piling onto the Pistons bandwagon that isn't a Lakers fan. Hornets fan here, and this is probably the last time they'll make the playoffs in my natural life now that they're moving to the Western Conference. So it's just good old-fashioned Laker hating on my part. Tired of everyone fawning over SHAAAAAAAQ and praising Kobe for his heroism... uhm, he's still on trial for rape, right? And Shaq could basically sodomize someone on the court (I think he might try that in game 4) and they'd call the Pistons for a flagrant foul. But the good news is besides them, they have NOTHING. 'Sides, I've gots ta pull for UConn hero Rip Hamilton. ;P |

Missed the last game. Not gonna miss todays . Hopefilly the LA Lakers will lose again. That would be nice but I don't really think so..they lose and then win one. No wait..that's 'my' team the Sacramento Kings . Lakers losing the championship this year would be odd. When was the last time an Eastern Conference team won the Championship? I started watching basketball a few years ago so I don't know . I would rather have more offense then defense next year but lets see how it goes.. I've always thought of the Lakers as just a team with their heads up somewhere because of all those star players. How would they now how to divide up all the time amongst eachother for the spotlight? Kobe or Shaq always seems to get it though so yeah The Lakers has been the Kings' rival so now that the Kings are out of it..time for more hating on the Lakers. |

I thought you wanted the Lakers to win after the "low-scoring" possibilities for games next year.

Originally posted by Bella the Chicago Bulls were the 1998 champions. http://www.nba.com/history/awards_finalschampsmvp.html anyhow, Pistons lead 3-1. according to the poll on nba.com, it seems most people think the Pistons will take it in game 5. but if the Lakers' performance in game 4 is any indication, they seem to be figuring out a way to survive... as I predicted after game 3, I still think the Pistons will take it in game 6... maybe game 5, or perhaps 7 if the Lakers continue to improve. I very highly doubt the Lakers will win the series, though... but if they can learn the lesson the Pistons are teaching them, I'll be happy for them. Regardless of how it ends, the series is certainly sobering for Lakers fans. it's funny... at first, I was hoping the Pistons would win... after game 3, I believed they could win... and after game 4, I believe they will win. |

in some ways, i'm hoping this is the year that... (1) phil jackson doesn't win an NBA title when he makes it to the finals. (2) kobe bolts the LA Lakers however, i would like to see Karl Malone (or Gary Payton) to be on an NBA championship team. I wonder, does anybody know of any hall of famer who never was on an NBA championship team? |

88-80. No team has ever come back from being down 3-1. I'm kind of disappointed myself... all the games next year could be like this. It's not just good defense, it's bad offense!

Originally posted by JJ64 I do but I don't it's weird. I have Laker hate but I love offense. I don't like the Pistons lack of offense but the defense is okay. So I'm stuck in the middle with it but eh..oh well. Whatever happens, happens. It doesn't make sense when you get the ball from the opposing team and can't make the shot or if you're just saying both the teams have "good defense". I've always wondered why whenever the Kings would play a defensive team like the Pistons earlier in the season, that they couldn't score..or they were just having a bad night . Maybe it was rubbing off on them, maybe that's whats happening to the Lakers? The Lakers work miracles (refs and their meaningless fouls in favor of the Lakers)..in the Western Conference Finals a few years back when they were playing the Kings, they jumped back and won the last few games . I don't know whats going to happen this year in dee finals. |

Still, no team has ever come back to win when they're down 3-1 in the finals, so I really have my doubts that the Pistons will lose.

Being from Michigan, I'm naturally rooting for the Pistons. However, I really do like their style of playing. Defensive games really make the baskets seem like a lot more when they are scored. Larry Brown is the man.

I'm sorry... but I have to disagree with you. It is good defense... but poor offense. Scores in the 60s and 70s? Anyway, I'm going to agree with Toxic. I think they'll lose in the 6th.

Originally posted by neotransotaku yeah, I agree. I was rooting for the Jazz in their two finals appearances, both times against the Bulls. Jazz fans have mixed reactions to Malone having switched to the Lakers, many of whom are along the line of "I hate the Lakers, but I'm grudgingly rooting for them just to see Malone win a championship". I think Malone ought to get a championship at some point... but if he wanted me to root for him in a Finals appearance, he picked precisely the worst way to go about doing it. I respect Malone, but he picked the wrong team to join... so until he ditches the yellow and purple jersey, I say the hell with him. He should've joined the Pistons, ya? Bring him up to Portland... then I'll be rooting for him all the way! Shaq, on the other hand... I'm beginning to respect him. With much of the Lakers throwing hissy fits at the referees, Shaq has kept his emotions in check, taking it like a man. But it still doesn't mean I'm anywhere near rooting for the Lakers just yet. I still think they can go straight to Hell™ for game 7 of the 2000 western conference finals. I'm sure Rasheed Wallace (who lost to the Lakers that night) feels the same way. But I digress. The Game 5 show starts in three hours from now, with tip-off a half-hour later (assuming ABC doesn't run commercials over it like they did with Game 4 ). The death of the Lakers seems imminent... not just in the series, but also as a team, as it appears that Kobe Bryant will become a free agent after the season, and who knows if Payton or Malone will remain on board afterwards... assuming the Lakers lose the series, of course, which- barring hell and high water- will come to pass sometime before (or on) next sunday. |

The death of the Lakers seems imminent... They just played poorly. They can't defend against the Pistons, and they can't play against their defense. They're doomed. They will lose in either this game or the next. This will spell the death of the Lakers. |

Originally posted by JJ64 Ha, that's the spirit towards the Lakers. They're just falling a part. I need to get home and watch the game. If it hasn't started already . I wonder how it's gonna be. I also think the Lakers might take this game but screw up the next. They're not gods, so hopefully they'll lose it |
