Which FF do you think had the overall best score? I could care less if FFVI was on a cartridge, I still believe it has the best soundtrack of them all; Cyan's theme anyone?

Then I'd probably say either FFVII or FFVIII.

FFVI had the best soundtrack, if that's what you mean by score. Cyan's theme??? How about ANY song on that soundtrack??

What are you talking about? Atma's theme, Cyan's theme, Locke's theme, Edgar's theme, Kefka's theme, the Dancing Mad songs, oh wait .... your right. They're all awesome.

FFVI is alright.. but I preferred FFX's soundtrack. Almost all the songs are good and nice to listen to, my favourites being Suteki Da Ne, Mount Gagazet, that last Seymour battle, Assault, and so on.

Past the 20 different versions of the Humming song in FFX. (Forgot what exactly it was called) I have to admit FFX did have some really awesome songs, Seymour's Final Battle song was pretty sweet and technoey.

FFVI and most of the legend series. but between the two, VI had the most amazing and moving soundtrack I have ever heard. ever. I can even begin to describe the emotion portrayed by Terra's theme (World of Ruin), especialy on that vocal album (forget which of the two it was on now )

I'm torn with 6, 7, 8, and 10. I only like one or two sets from 9. I mean, each game seems to have it's own style, it's own beat, so it's really hard to tell.

I would have to agree with FFVI (FFIII here in the US) as the FF with the best musical score. Don't know why, but I was always fond of Realm's theme the most. Setzer's theme is also sweet.

Really good RPG soundtracks that match FF quality in comparison would be the Chrono series, and Breath of Fire 4. But still, I prefer FFVI's and FFVII's soundtrack over basically all RPG's.

FFVI, no question, none of the songs on that soundtrack are skippable, and I own them ALL from FFV to FFXI (Taking in FFX2 on the way), as for the other OSTs there are some stand out tracks.... FF8 would be my second choice, Liberi Fatali is a masterpiece, and once people realise that the world will be a better place!
FFX? Otherworld! Yeah! Kick ARSE!
I like the J-pop songs (so as you can imagine I loved FFX-2's OST'), but also the epics, "Vanadiel March" from FFXI is an absolute classic.

SEVEN! SEVEN SEVEN SEVEN SEVEN!!

Whew. One Winged Angel and the overworld theme (at least some nicer, mor3e orchestrated versions I've heard of them) are just the bomb.

But Terra's Theme IS wicked cool, ESPECIALLY the remix 'Terra in Black.'

Otherworld!

That sums everything up.

And the piano sequences in FF8, eyes on me, specifically.

One-Winged Angel was a sad, sad follow-up in terms of end-boss themes to Dancing Mad. Just...sad.

FFVI and FFVII are my two picks for best FF soundtracks. There's cuts from the others I really do like a crapload...particularly when specially performed (Celtic Moon and The Black Mages, anyone?), or just orchestrated.
