I agree, Dancing Mad takes the cake. I love FFVI! Everything about that game is so unique from the other Final Fantasies! Dancing Mad is divided into four sections, the first three of which are Bach-style organ music and the fourth is a twisted rock song with organ, drums, and bass guitar! That's just the first part of the fourth section! The second part of the fourth section is a slow dance, which has the be the most beautiful thing I ever heard in Final Fantasy.

Another thing unique about the game is its main villain. You notice that in every other Final Fantasy the main villain is very stoic and composed, and likes to use proper language and stuff. And though he kills a lot of people, he never seems to enjoy it? Kefka, the main villain of FFVI, is the complete opposite! Watch as he's giddy like a schoolgirl while he's poisoning Doma's water supply! He's jumping around, using vernacular, and just being a general, little bastard! He's a war criminal, but he likes what he does! I think he has ADHD, too. Anybody who has not listen to Kefka's theme and Dancing Mad and does not want to, or has but doesn't like it, is WRONG!

FFVIII has that delightful little piano piece that plays in Fisherman's Horizon, "Slide Show Part II", so FFVIII wins.

Oh, wait... FFVI's "Spinach Rag" is just as good... OK then, it's a tie!

Yeck...7 month thread bump.

Well...it did have some decent content at least...oh well...

Anyways, I'd probably be like the majority and say VIII as well, although I think IX comes in close with X behind that. Probably one of VIII's high points was it's score.

Hiryuu,

I don't see what's so bad about bumping old threads. If they're decent and somebody's got new input, it shouldn't be a problem. I think it's better than starting a new thread on a subject that's already got a thread covering it. That way all that content can stay in one place and be easily looked at.

Yea, maybe, but most times that's clearly going against the FAQ...I mean those are warning / bannable offenses right there.

Not saying it was a bad post, and it's not like I'm in any mood to close something like this either, but I'm just saying that if it was any less of a post...I doubt very seriously it'd stay alive as a thread or you as a user. One lined stuff like: FF8 = GRATE!! or something -would not- have been tolerated.

That's usually what I'd have to worry about.

Whoa! I don't mean to troll on this board or anything. Perhaps the leadership here could change that rule a bit.

I agree with you, those one line posts are annoying. They add nothing to the discussions here.

Nevertheless, I will tread more carefully on this board from now on. Thanks for the tip!

Hiryuu, I think the real question is "why is that a ban-able / warning offense to begin with?". Especially when the new poster hadn't yet joined the board last time people were talking about the subject. Are newbies supposed to say to themselves "too bad, people were talking about XYZ a month before I joined and I'd love to add my opinion, but bumps of old topics are forbidden so I'll just have to be quiet"?

You have expressed my point far more eloquently than I could ever imagine.

I agree. As long as the person isn't bumping to spam or add some inane comment, then it should be allowed.

Gee guys, it's just a thread about FF music, from when the board just got back up.
I can understand you'd bump a topic with a bit more content, but this is pushing it.
And that rule is there for a reason. It's no one's fault someone new joins when a thread has been dead for ages, but that's no reason to bump it regardless.
No matter how much your posts adds to the topic, if you're smart enough to make sense, you should understand why you shouldn't bump up threads aswell.

Why don't you elaborate? I am interested in hearing your explanation.

The thing is, there shouldn't be exceptions. It's in the FAQ. Don't like it, take it up with the admins. I mean this is bordering on me closing this now because this is starting to irk me debating this.

Just be happy. HAPPY!

I'd have to say that the theme song is quite nice to listen to. The simple arpeggio on the piano with the light background. Entirely enjoyable.

Of course, the cake now goes to Crystal Chronicles with its nice rural Eurasian sounding tracks and theme song.

I'm going to buck the trend and say FFIV.

Also, FFII has probably the best song Uematsu ever did, "Castle Pandemonium", even though it's only 8 measures.

Emptyeye,

On the NSF, what track number has "Castle Pandemonium"?

I think that FF2j has the best music on the old Nintendo. Its battle theme is only behind FF7's and FF9's battle themes. I like the trilling 32nd notes near the end of it, before it loops back.

I also like FF2j's overworld theme. It's the first Final Fantasy with the chocobo theme, too!

Providing we both have the same NSF (The one from Zophar), it's track 12. Easy enough to recognize, being as it plays in Pandemonium and all.

I hated FF9... I would get so sick of the music, that I would actually turn the volume down to play the game... . I did like FF7, and 8.

The world map themes from FFIV, FFV and FFVI were all wonderful in my opinion. Other great hits that come to my mind are Cosmo Canyon (FFVII), any incarnation of the Victory Fanfare, FFIV battle themes and Gilgamesh's Theme (FFV). And of course anything from Final Fantasy Tactics, despite not being Uematsu's work. I'm sure I could think of alot more too.....

FFX has the best soundtrack for me. I can't get enough of the music played when you're in Luca. I don't know. I love video game music period. If a game has bad music, the game is usually bad itself. This goes quadruple for RPGs.
