Yep...I finally sat down and traced through the piranha plant's code, and figured out why the "classic" upright version uses the wrong tile and palette for its leaves. Apparently, a small snippet of code that Nintendo added to fix the upside-down plant's palette and GFX page is incompatible with the upright plant's swapped sprites, and attempts to fix the NEXT sprite in memory! If an upright plant happens to be the last sprite processed, and you have a screen full of sprites, this could potentially cause glitches (though this is probably very rare). Anyway, I've patched the offending routine, so it now checks the sprite number and adjusts the palette/GFX page accordingly: piranhafix.zip Be sure to check the README for more info on changing the sprite's GFX page.
