Well, there's an overly unspecific question. No, I don't believe in any god as those portrayed in any organized, revelation-based religion. I do believe in a driving force behind the creation of the universe, or a "first mover", if you will. You want to call that God? Go right ahead. I don't believe this force intervenes in the universe, other than being its initial designer, thus it doesn't matter what you call it. |

Some time ago, I actually gave this some more serious thought, and I came to pretty much the same conclusion that SomerZ did. There's some kind of "force", that triggered the creation of everything, and that it hasn't intervened much after that. I also mentioned this to a Christian friend of mine, and I think he atleast found the idea to be interesting. Though, what I didn't mention to him, is that I also believe that this force, in a way, represents each side of human nature. |

Jesus was black. Or Arabic. Probably Arabic, but wow, Black Jesus would kick ass. Sadly enough, a kid at school called me a heathen for saying Jesus was Arabic.

the christian religion is awful, they have killed anyone who think different than them... because of a God that tell them to don't kill, Whatever If its true or not, Its being used to gain power and to manipulate people, and god did nothing at all to stop that, the only bible did more trouble to mankind than natural disaster. For all these reason I voted NO

Isn't that a very three-dimensional way of looking at things? Nothing in the universe can be created or destroyed (matter or energy), it just runs in an endless cycle of different forms. In fact, nothing in the universe truly had a beginning and won't have an end, so doesn't it follow that the universe itself would have much the same properties perhaps running in an endless cycle of contraction and expansion? No, I don't believe in GOD. What does that stand for, anyway? But really, I've read this book. It's entitled, I don't have enough faith to be an Atheist. It is not a joke. The authors were atheist, then decided to warp (not a spelling error) their logic around the whole concept of christianity. They attempt to prove, in the first two (or four? I don't remember) chapters, that God exists. It's all very neat and precise, up until the part where they claim that by the second law of thermodynamics the universe can't have been around forever, or else it wouldn't exist today. I'd love to go further into why this is so ludicrous, but what Arwon said is more concise than any explanation I would write. Also, I do believe that you can get something out of nothing, so I suppose I do have enough faith to be an atheist. Huzzah. If you didn't get the gist of that, or perhaps skipped it because you were lazy, I do not believe in any supreme being whatsoever. Except in the one possibility I now describe... Okay, so, there's the big argument that the world is so complex that someone had to have designed it, right? Let's just say for a moment that this is true. But just look around you! It's obvious that the world is not perfect. Seriously, you can see all the things that were done wrong that, had you been the supreme being, you would have done better. So, while it's obvious that there must be a supreme being, it's also obvious that He did not make this world. No, it's much more plausible that our universe was made by an underling while no one was looking. In other words, the existence of a badly-made clock proves the existence of an inept clockmaker. As such, it's probably a bad idea to offer up prayers to this supreme being. You'd just be inviting armageddon. |

Humm, just out of curiosity, what imperfections would you fix? Im not looking for things like human corruption simply because its possible that at one point we had no such flaws and somehow were corrupted, outside of said deity's interaction. One thing, the way I see it, It doesn't matter if God has interacted with the universe once or millions of times, If he created it as most religions state, couldn't he, with all his power and intellect and such have set into motion every miracle or coincidence or thing that we take as a deus ex machina that was ever going to happen from that one single interaction? |

I don't believe in any deities for the same reason that I don't believe in ghosts, fairies, the Invisible Pink Unicorn, or any other supernatural being. I haven't seen any evidence that convinces me of a deity's existence.

Depends. If it's the Christian God, or the Muslim God... or any monotheistic God, for that matter, it's a no. I'm Wiccan, so I believe in the Lady and the Lord. So, yes. I guess. |
