| White is all colours at once in the RGB system. Black is all colours at once in the CMYK system.  And yes, Black and White is a colour. Arguging against that is just trying to make it less simpler for people.  |

I guess white is debatable, but black definitely is not a color, and can be proven with simple logic: if black absorbs all light, then nothing is reflected back to your eyes, so therefore your seeing nothing, which of course can’t have a color. |

| To me they aren't colours, because white is a mixture of all colours and black is just no colour. Like I stated in the red/green poll. 000000 = Black = Zero red, green and blue. FFFFFF = White = Full red, green and blue. |

| It's a somewhat subjective bag, really. Techically could you say they are colors, sure, but that depends on your personal definition of what color is. To a graphics artist such as myself they are very much real colors. I don't think color could exist without it. Color is just a side effect of the way light reflects off ofdifferent things. White reflects the most light. Black reflects no light. One could argue over the 'true' color of green. I used to think grass green was the color of pure green... as it is very often portrayed, as well. Turns out pure green is damn near as bright as yellow, and to GET a good grass green the light/dark value has to be around 50%. Black, though... that's still a tough one a to classify. It doesn't necesarilly count as a shade (nor does white). White and Black are the absolute ends and beginings of color (infinite potential to either becoming any color or having once been some color). To get back on topic, I'd say Black very much counts as color. You can see it. It is not any other color. It's not a kind of dark blue. It's black. Same thing with white. |

| As Kitten Yiffer put it, there are diferent ways to mix colours, in RGB, it's mixed all colours togehter at the max and you get white (additive), on the paper (CMYK), you mix all colours together to get black (subtractive). And of course, black and white are colours. May we ask Wikipedia: Color From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. Color or colour [1] is the perception of the frequency (or wavelength) of light, and can be compared to how pitch (or a musical note) is the perception of the frequency or wavelength of sound. A hue refers to the gradation of color within the optical spectrum, or visible spectrum, of light. "Hue" may also refer to a particular color within this spectrum, as defined by its dominant wavelength, or the central tendency of its combined wavelengths.
