I realized you have a section in the SMW area with Complete SMW Hacks. But what about SMB3!? If people could post some COMPLETE and GOOD hacks (in this thread) of SMB3 I'd really appreciate it! BTW: Is it possible to make the "9th Warp World" an actual world with levels and such? And be able to access it like after world 7 for example? (instead of using Flute) |

I'd guess there's no finished SMB3 hack database because two hands is probably enough to count the total number of 'em. I could only name 4 of them myself, and if there are any others, I'd play 'em. Might be a cool thing to sticky just as a motivational tactic, perhaps. I'd sure want mine up there if I finish it. I don't see the point in jumping from world 7 to world 9, because you can just use world 8 and change the map tiles and music to give it a different appearance, and even change the number 8 to a 9 if you must. Jumping from 8 to 9 without a whistle would require some reprogramming tactics that I'm not proficient in. Many years ago I tried putting a koopa kid in world 8 (instead of bowser) to see what would happen. The koopa was totally glitched, the king was glitched, the princess's letter was glitched, and it does link you to world 9, but way off the screen. |

My short (but complete) hack is available at my saucy new web page: http://www.andrewsylvester.com/ As a refresher: Super Mario Bros. in the Mystery of the Flying Fish -- a mini-hack (a term I coined just because, well, the whole game is condensed into one world, simply because one world is more than enough to keep my interest in hacking the game AND playing a hack). It's weird, it's different, it's a masterpiece! Well, in terms of my output anyway. Give it a try, won't you? (edited by PSlugworth on 10-04-05 10:05 PM) |

http://198.64.150.251/jlb/mario3cape.ips This takes Super Mario Bros 3 (U) (PRG 1).nes and converts all the raccoon Mario graphics to cape mario, including replacing the leaf with the feather. Tanooki is unaffected. This is graphics ONLY, so while it will behave the exact same as Raccoon, it can probably be used in addition to most of your favorite hacks to give them a new look. (I for instance added it to Mario Chronicles which already used a bunch of SMW graphics). |

Yay! Some SMB3 hacks. However it'd be nice to see more complete ones.. (not graphic hacks, no offence) Post more! (If you can. I'm sure other people would be interested in seeing more too) |

On Frank15's site, you'll find two SMB3 hacks that are complete, and they're good, too. | |||

Woot! I'm happy to see more SMB3 hacks. I wanted to ask (since I am working on my own SMB3 hack) How do I change the palette colours? Also how would I change a "block" image on the world map? I tried using YY-CHR but it's a disaster... Seems more like gibberish. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

To change palette colors you may use nesten. Just put the menu Vid/palette console and you can view the hexs that are used at a certain part of the game being emulated (you must click in the game screen and then go back to the palette console to refresh it). Then write back the values in groups of four (horizontally) and remember that sequences (for example, in the title screen the first group of 4 is the sequence $#370f3016). So search in an hex editor that sequence(s) and change it(them) by another values (In the same palette console the values of the color bytes and its respective color are shown). Then see the results. (If it dind't work, try just searching for three of the 4 bytes, the last 3 are recommended, and replace them for another value. Don't search less than 3 bytes or you can mess with another values) To be sure that those are palette values in the editor, see if there are values next to the group below $#40 That's it |

Ugh. You can only change palette colours in SMB3 by hex? NOOooooooo. Btw, how do change some overworld graphics in SMB3? For example, I'd like to change the Spade Bonus level box to something else. (instead of a spade maybe a heart) Keep those SMB3 Hacks coming!! |

Actually, if you have SMB3Discombobulator, you can edit the palletes of the overworld, but I don't know about in levels... Graphics: just like any other game TILE EDITOR |

Originally posted by luisv My map editor doesn't support palette changing, but hukka's Workshop and Acmlm's Discombobulator do. Also, you can edit the graphics for the overworld directly starting at this address: 0x45010 The sprites are at: 0x48010 Also, starting here and lasting 0x400 bytes is: 0x18010 You see, there are a 0x100 tiles that you can edit the overworld with; they are 16x16 tiles built from 4 8x8 tiles. The 0x400 bytes determine what tile number make them up at the 0x45010 tile page; the first 0x100 bytes in that table do for the upper left tile, the second 0x100 do for the lower left tile, then for the upper right, and finally the lower right. Does that make sense? |

Woot! Thanks. I now know how to change palette colours! But, I'm still not sure how to change Overworld Tiles. I tried YY-Chre, and it's not actually a user- (newb) friendly program. Ideally I'd like to draw my own tiles (for overworld) and copy them into the actual ROM. P.S. Post more SMB3 hacks! |

My screenshots is very late World 6-7 World 7-6 World 8 Fortress World 1-5 I might plan to make the e-reader levels for the NES even though there are no ace coins or SMW enemies or Acmlm's Strangebros 3 for SNES. In fact it's a whole damn reason why I made Frank15's levels for my SNES hack in the first place. |
