I wasn't 100% sure as to where this belonged, if anywhere. (If a mod moves this to a more suitable locale, could you please PM me as to where it was moved?)

The wait is finally over, I'm going into boot camp like, the day after tomorrow, and today is probably the last day I'll be online. The time I should be gone is roughly two months, but there's a chance that I'll be put on a boat right after I'm done, so it could be longer.

I guess you guys don't know me all to well, and I'm not all that popular, or probably even all that liked for that matter. I just figured it'd be rude to some degree if I just up and left without indication.

I would take the side with the biggest paycheck, and least chance of dying perhaps?.

Good luck, then. And, whatever you do, don't sneak in one of those fart machines. My friend thought it would be funny and brought it and it went off on accident in his pocket and he had to do a ton of push-ups every time it went off, which was like once a minute. Eventually he stopped and rolled around on the ground to get it to shut off. Of course I doubt you will. My friend's an idiot.

If you go on a boat, tell us about it when you get back. I'm sure you'll be missed.

I don´t think I´m allowed to go to boot camp due to my bad sight.

Not that I´d want to either.

It's for the coast guard, I forgot to mention that.

And despite my seemingly violent views, I'm actually quite a bit of a pacifist when it comes to my own affairs (except in direct self defense, I've broken a muggers' teeth before ). I'm going into the military in the first place because I was screwed pretty badly on one business venture ($1500 on a cook's salary T_T), and was pretty much screwed on bills. Six years in the military looks good on a resume, especially with the provided training (computers and electronics, for me). Not to mention $2900 a month starting out ain't bad.

I chose coast guard specifically because quite frankly, I don't even want to make the choice as to whether or not I'm for or against the war, or any future war(s). Politics have failed to genuinely concern me, they still don't. Although I take place in debates for the mental stimuli. For those of you that don't know, the coast guard isn't even owned by the department of defense, they were owned by the department of treasury, then department of transportation, and now homeland defense. Law enforcement (which the coast guard is basically a nautical version of) holds a lot less questionable ethics behind it, especially since we're just saving people and stopping drug runners (well, the immigrant thing holds some debatable issues, but I don't want to touch that here XD).

@trapster: Is it like an astigmatism? Because I'm almost legally blind (20/400 vision), and they have no problem because my corrected vision compensates me to 20/20.

Anyway, I'm a sick enough bastard that I got all excited looking at the boot camp videos. I was mentally like "Oh! Running! Pushups! I get to fire a Baretta!? Haha! they're gonna wake me up at 5! awesome!" I like training for some reason ...

Well, some of the cones or something else is missing in my eyes.

I´ve to wear thick glasses to correct my sight. But I don´t have much muscles in my legs so I doubt I´d do good.

I thought they really did care about your vision and stuff eh oh well. At least you have corrected vision, is it through surgeries or something?

Oh, "corrected" generally refers to whatever method you use to make you see better. In my case, these schmecksay glasses. They do care, yeah, but about the vision you're using, not your natural vision. I think the airforce is one of the few that's really picky, and glasses won't fly (no pun intended) if you're trying to be a pilot.

Well duh. Pilots who need coke-bottle glasses = not wanted I'd think.

Have fun I guess. More like you're doing a service for law enforcement more than anything else, and there's much worse assignments than the Coast Guard.
