Let's see... have this problem that's really pissing me off. I got this AOL Spyware Protection that I downloaded from the AOL Homepage to prevent pop-ups, and any spy adware from destroying the computer.

I recently got an upgrade around 3:57 PM/Central Time, Sepember 28 (date input incase this is answered a day late or so), scanned for spyware and stuff. I blocked them all, then it says that I had to restart. I did so, went through the main start-up window crap, logged on my Computer User Name (have three User Names for me and my family)... and nothing shows up. It starts up, but the Start Menu doesn't show up, nor does any of my damn files on my desktop. I still have access to them all by using the Task Manager.

How I got on, used the alt. way: starting up a new program. Got any way for me to fix this annoying problem before I get pissed off more (sorry if this sounds threatening, but it really gets me mad when there's something I can't fix...)

Maybe you should try to go to Safe Mode and use System Restore, if you can and that your computer has System Restore. You could also try Last Known Good, too, but that only restores the info in the Registry key "HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet", so I recommend System Restore. System Restore helped me to solve this DrWatson Error problem that hangs my computer, so it may solve your problem.

This is from the Windows Help File:
To start the computer in safe mode
You should print these instructions before continuing. They will not be available after you shut your computer down in step 2.
Click Start, click Shut Down, and then, in the drop-down list, click Shut down.
In the Shut Down Windows dialog box, click Restart, and then click OK.
When you see the message Please select the operating system to start, press F8.
Use the arrow keys to highlight the appropriate safe mode option, and then press ENTER.
If you have a dual-boot or multiple-boot system, choose the installation that you need to access using the arrow keys, and then press ENTER.
Notes

In safe mode, you have access to only basic files and drivers (mouse, monitor, keyboard, mass storage, base video, default system services, and no network connections). You can choose the Safe Mode with Networking option, which loads all of the above files and drivers and the essential services and drivers to start networking, or you can choose the Safe Mode with Command Prompt option, which is exactly the same as safe mode except that a command prompt is started instead of the graphical user interface. You can also choose Last Known Good Configuration, which starts your computer using the registry information that was saved at the last shutdown.
Safe mode helps you diagnose problems. If a symptom does not reappear when you start in safe mode, you can eliminate the default settings and minimum device drivers as possible causes. If a newly added device or a changed driver is causing problems, you can use safe mode to remove the device or reverse the change.
There are circumstances where safe mode will not be able to help you, such as when Windows system files that are required to start the system are corrupted or damaged. In this case, the Recovery Console may help you.
NUM LOCK must be off before the arrow keys on the numeric keypad will function."

If the F8 thing doesn't work, run msconfig (if you are able to, it's located at C:\WINDOWS\PCHealth\HelpCtr\Binaries\), go to the BOOT.INI tab, and select /SAFEBOOT and restart. To turn it off, go to msconfig in safe mode and uncheck /SAFEBOOT.

Your'e welcome, Forte.EXE. But according to Windows, System Restore only restores system files, not personal files. Unless your SMW hack is in a "non-personal" folder.
