This has probably been asked for a lot of times before the crash, but still...

These forums needs a search feature when you enter some text and some PHP thingey would find it automagically.

There was one on the old one, was deleted becuse it drained to much power and bandwidth on the old host.

Dunno if he will readd it on the new. May or may not...

Yeah I heard it wasnt added because it made the bandwith on the server go nuts. But a little search feature would be nice.

Maybe it's just my dialup connection, but it seems the old search was excruciatingly slow...

It just took too long to run most of the time, nothing to do with slow connections

It wouldn't be a problem anymore here if I added it back, but it might gradually slow down again once the board grows back ...

It doesn't matter if it's slow. I can play on my Game Boy Advance while waiting.

Hahaha, you're right

I was tempted to use it a couple times on the previous board, so I could search for stuff, but I decided that I might get in trouble...

You should be able to reduce the slowness by setting which forum to search or maybe even select a time frame for posts to look for. That way it won't search the WHOLE database, just the forum and timeframe you specify... although I guess technically it'd still search the whole database just for more data than normal... which might make it slow more.... which makes me wonder... is there a way to refine the database in like acmlmboard2.0 (the mythological creature we all speak of yet never see a trace of) so that threads and posts might be sorted in a subfolder of the forum they're started in?
