The school I go to are the "Maroons", like the bear. However, a nearby school used to be the "Chinks", and no, I'm not making that up.

We're the "Saint John's Pioneers". Our mascot is nothing more than an image, a figure head. No little dude running around in a costume or anything, simply a logo. There is this really sketchy old guy (who I swear to god must live under the bleeachers in the gym or something) who has reached a level of senile where he likes to tell people he IS the Pioneer...an odd one, that Frank. Oh, and also, we technicly appointed some Columbian kid as our "homeroom mascott"...long story short, it was just a really cheesy yet strangly humorous pun brought up by our homeroom teacher (who tells his fair share of cheesy jokes, but the man is trying, so I guess thats what counts )

and neotrans: is that university by chance out in Cali? Because it sounds like the same Pacific University I might be going to in a few years (I'm going for music though, not dentistry)

Wurl: Classy, I must say, regarding the old mascot. Didn't I do something on this topic? Oh yeah, I did.

ANYWAY. The reason for the article is the high school I cover is the Indians. But is coo because the logo (profile head) is historically accurate regarding the local Native Americans. My old high school was the Spartans, because it's always intimidating to go by the city-state that met its end at the mouth of a giant wooden fucking horse.

(College was the Braves, which meant they MUST change it on the eve of our first national TV appearance. And not come up with a new one in time, meaning we were the... uhm, College. Wait, we were University then. And again, tasteful depiction, as the motif was crossed arrows. Now they're the Bobcats, which we all know are native to south central Connecticut.)

EDIT:
They cut down your mascot to make a parking lot. Lmao.

Nuh-uh. They paved over paradise, put up a parking lot.

(In related news, listen to Joni Mitchell.)

Oh, the Indians school colors are maroon and white, and my old high school's green and white. Reeeeeeal original.

Oh yes, COLLEGE mascots too...

We have a horse. We are the Broncs. Our colors are black and...cranberry. I think the color looks more like maroon, but if you don't call it cranberry around here, they kill you.

My high school mascot was the Indian. Our colors? Black and Red...

I think some people were offended that we were "Indians", but my school never payed attention to that.

My first Elementary School, I think was the Bobcats (Green/Yellow)
My Second Elementary School, was the fucking rainbows! I don't know if it had any special meanings or anything.
Middle School, had the Rams(Baby Blue and White) seems fitting how they ripped of UNC
High School, the ever so original Wildcats! (Teal and White - Gay ass colors!)

I'm not aware of any mascots my Australian schools or my Uni has, but Coronado High School in San Diego were the Islanders. Naturally, the mascot was a big immovable rock shaped like the Easter Island Statues.

When I went to elementry school, we were the Hooters (like an owl). That offended someone from the Christian Coalition. They wanted to change to The Fighting Apostles, or something specificaly Christian, but this was a public school so they couldn't use that. Now it's the Eagles or some crap like that.
