When you litigate self-restraint, the repercussions can be devastating. I think that sums up what's been going on over here. Seriously, look at all of the parallels between the US and Rome on its last legs, it's kind of suprising. |

Germans are taking the throne and there is a massive co-ordinated assault by various groups during a time of upheavel from a Pagan to a Christian system after a major split between the empire. Additionally a stagnation of the intellectuals within the heart of the empire due to the ponderance of mass migration and a lack of nutrition in the food? I could go on for hours. The collapse of an empire is archetypal and not applicable across the board. America's pending collapse is unique to all other empires... |

Don't worry, being in a debt that you cannot possibly pay is worse than being backrupt...or so I believe.

Sure, Alberta has money, but you have to put up with the ridiculous cold. I've already heard reports of blizzards there. I spent a few summers in Grand Prarie and it was cold enough to need a sweatshirt in July.

I live in Grande Prairie its not ridiculously cold, only sometimes in the winter...and last winter wasnt so bad, however we do have alot of snow usually, this summer here, was very good, not overly hot, as in 30 degrees, and not really cold, or under 15 degrees for most of the summer, however it is getting colder now, like today, rainy and very chilly, but im use to it now.

Not really. This sort of collapse is unqiue when compared to other empires, but in the grand scheme of things, America's empire has been fairly puny. I know that there is this grand will to be the greatest, but Rome, Persia and the Satrapis of Islam have already held that title. One that will never be challenged again. The fact of the American imperial collapse will be one that will be transitional. Yes, there will be economic strife. But there won't be a grand devolution into a hellish world of chaos like what we had following Rome or Persia. (post-Ptolmeic). The American empire is being usurped by the other world powers. And since it is indeed unique to all other empires in the fact that it doesn't really have a direct colonial hold on enough land. The devolution of the American empire will be unique in what happens.

alte Hexe, May I suggest reading up on: http://www.darkage.fsnet.co.uk/? Marc Widdowson there believes that such periods of chaos, which he calls dark ages, that you mentioned are common in history and that they will happen again when the American Empire starts falling. Like Niall Fergusson, he believes that apolarity is in our future. I tend to agree, because the European Union, Russia, and China have so many problems of their own (messed-up internal structures), and they're inheriting many of the United States' problems (such as too much debt), that none of them seems to be a much of a successor to the United States. |

That guy is an idiot. All his arguments are based on experiences with his friend who was clearly a bum. America headed for 3rd world status if it was not already there?? PLEASE! That statement alone shows how stupid and ignorant this guy is. Now, i am Canadian and proud of it. I would not want to be american, but by no means is the country dead. Anyone with any intelligence would see right through this paper. Go read something that actually has some legitimate sources to get a real idea of what is going on.

I can see that America might get into a long-term depression in the future, but didn't the economy explode after the depression? And a eventual depression would affect the rest of the world more or less. I'm not gonna stubbornly belive it will happen, but I won't shun it off. He labels USA just like some Europeans do. Althought I don't personally like the lack of social politics... |

He labels America like if they spend all of their money on weapons, then? A big country like USA. Would a depression last long in such a large country? |
