Thought I should post this here, since we have a lot of FF users. Mozilla has just released a fix for a critical flaw that allows code execution in Mozilla, including Firefox. More information is avaiable here. To fix it you can either download the patch or just disable IDN:Copied from Mozilla website |

Most people use IE though but even if they didn't, this still would go in Hardware/Software.

I thought a lot of people used Firefox.. I wouldn't have known about this had it not been posted in General Chat. Don't we make exceptions for warnings like this? Thanks for the heads up HyperHacker. |

A lot of people on this board do but not everyone. My guess is that Firefox Update will pick it up soon anyways. Maybe one quick bugfix release before 1.5. |

So it only affects Windows users it seems. Good thing I'm not using that OS anymore.

Doesn't affect Deer Park Alpha 2 since it is a beta and has not the auto-update feature included, but I'm updating Mozilla Firefox - at least the developers react faster on security leaks than a major company (yes, I use Windows XP, but with my operating system I am really satisfied aside from the integrated browser).

It means that by visiting a webpage you could have a program downloaded and executed without your knowledge. FreeDOS, it probably would work in Linux, but nobody's going to bother writing exploit code for it. Leg, yeah, I forgot about that auto-update. I was teh sleepy. |

I hear ya FreeDOS. I've been hearing about this. People are even wanting to go to IE because of ONE FF bug, when IE has (realistically) maybe 30 bugs that are as severe as this one. |

Yeah, I cringe when I hear about major FF bugs, not out of fear that I'll get infected, but to brace myself for the onslaught of "OMG FIREFOX ISNT PERFECT LOL". Nevermind IE's swiss-cheese security system, it pales in comparison to a single bug that was patched right away. |
