I find it vertually imposible to turn on my TV after 6pm and find a channel that isn't airing a reality TV show. They don't bother me that much until of corse they are........um what the word i'm looking for........um well anyway you know how you have the original of the show and it all new and stuff but then they pull it on and you get things like Big Brother 4 and stuff........well unless they are like that. Its when they get to about the third series that they get boring. Once is fun Twise is okay but three times is just laim.

I don't know what every country in the world are into at the moment but i've herd reports that America is getting into the cosmetic reality shows. You know were the person has cosmetic surgery and stuff. Likewise Australia is in this but we have a more broad renivation. The traditional renivation of the gardens and then the renervation of the Body ( Basically cosmetic surgery ).

This brings me to my point has reality TV gone over board? Is this really healthy for the already body consious teenages of this generation? The average age for cosmetic surgery has been declining gradually. Once it was somthing like say for instance 40 it then droped to 30 and since these shows have been aired it has been known to be around the teenage years from 16 onwards.

I ask you again has it gone to far??

Personaly i reckon reality shows have gone to far in some areas... like cosmetic surgery. We have this reality show on australia tv called extreme makeovers, films in america, but aired in australia, that show is so anoying and pointless for us. But i also have to complement some shows like this one for giving older people the chance to become beautiful.

You mentioned teenages and surgery. I think these reality shows that go alone the lines of body change and plastic surgery should be aired at a later time ( nights ) so that we don't have teens and kids watching them. I could go on and on about this but the bottom line to me is "get ride of these stupid cosmetic reality shows.

Big Brother is cool, i never have gotten bored with it, same with Australian Idol, but can you keep the america idol away, it's anoying how when it is time for the viewers to vote that they say the voting lines are closed and stay tuned for later on to see who made it

HeHe maybe i am blabaling on, but i know what i am trying to say....

Call me crazy, but I could've sworn that the ages for plastic surgery were low even before the reality T.V. boom. Either way, there is no way this kind of T.V could be helping...

You don't nescessarily need sex or shock value to sell. Just look a the original Survivor, and The Apprentice...

Surviver is boring now... i mean the first few were excellent but after several survivers it gets boring and very anoying

And they do have a certain age limit for plastic surgery, but i have heard in some countries you could find a 18 year old on one of these shows

To right to both of you. But i must say who in there right mind would watch these kinds of shows. They get very boring after the first couple of episods.

Getting back to the cosmetic surgery thing there was a realitiy TV show, that was metioned on the news a couple of days ago, that let a 16 year old girl make herself look exactly like Pamilar Anderson right down to the big boobs. It liturally looked like she had a very large watermellon under her shirt.

I think he wanted to mention a show that was on after 6pm which was not a Reality Show, not realizing that blackfire's comment about there only being Reality Shows after 6pm was only a mild exaggeration. Besides, I doubt they get UPN in Australia.

And it really doesn't bother me whether or not they recycle a show. If I see a show and I like it, I might see the next season. If I don't like the next season, then I'll stop watching that show. What bothers me, though, is that it seems to me that Reality Shows are maybe going a little bit too far in breaking taboos to get viewers. At least further than I would like them to go.

LoL

The SomerZ: I reckon they are going too far getting viewers to watch their shows, like they say if you call now or vote now or put your name down now, you will win a prise like, money or so forth...

And i wouldn't have a clue either were FallenWarrior32 got the simpsons from, but can you just imagine the simpsons being live

And we don't have UPN in australiawhat does it stand for?

I think that reality shows jumped the shark when they did the one on FOX with the midgets.

For every good one, there's 3-5 bad or unwatchable ones to go along with it.

No it didn't it sounded stupid who would actually watch migests marriing midgets. Its basically discrimination there making fun of midgets which isn't funny.

Its kinda like Average Joe it just putting people down. Like you can marry this ugly person or chose one of our hot guys. Thats not fun to watch.

There was a reality show in the UK, kinda like The Batchelorette in the US, where a group of guys compete for this one woman. At the end of the show, when one winner is left, and he is most likely in love with the woman and all, it is revealed to the competitors that the woman is actually a male transvestite.
That is going too far, if you ask me.

Ever since Survivor 1 (yeah it's sad they have numbers to them), reality TV has gone downhill like a rollercoaster.

There are a few ok to good ones, but then there are always nuggets.

Blame sweden for the reality shows, because "we" invented the first Robinson, or as it's called in the us, "Survivor". Tv has gone downhill from -97.
And on Big Brother here in sweden, people have sex in front of the cameras, drinks until they cant stand up any more, and so on.
The funny thing is that you can buy the sex-scenes (which was aired live on tv here, which I doubt would be possible in the US) from the channels homepage on internet x)

Reality shows suck. I'm tired of seeing shows where they do you over with all this cosmetic crap. They just need to stop with that. We already have enough self consicous (sp?) people in America, we don't need anymore. Now everyone thinks they need to look like a model to be excepted by everyone.

All these dating shows are played out. On one of them, I think it's the Bachlor. One of the women are spies. There's no point in watching them.
