Right now im runnign a duron proc. 700mhz i recetnly got ahold of some ram chips that is 640mbs all together will this slow down my computer or make it better, what amount of ram should i have for my computer to make it run decent and fast | |||

Adding RAM should improve your computer. Only in rare cases it will slow it down. Just install the RAM and judge performance. If you feel the computer runs even slower than before, reduce how much RAM you put in. | |||

If you're using Win9x (including ME IIRC) you can't have more than 512MB. | |||

Actually Win9x/Me have the limit of 768MB. Which was fine when they were mainstream, but not anymore There's some registry hack for a fix of up to 2GB, probably on annoyances.org | |||

Well even when i have mspaint up and flash mx and limewire i always get the message There is not enough memory available to run this program. Quit one or more programs, and then try again. and then like alll the graphics screw up and when i coppy stuff from clipboard it comes out black and stuff so should i downsize. |
