| Colleen, those are not legitimate stats all they do is indicate posts and views and such there is no legitimate information there regarding actual bandwidth usage, but it doesn't matter I already know and have shared how much this forum uses. | ohh sorry Colleen my bad, but if you look up and down those daily stats, the posts per day are pretty much constant on average right? Actually, I do notice that the views per day have seem to increase somewhat on average, but on the average they only went up by about 25% which is still not more than an $8 webhosting account from LunarPages won't support. | didn't erkdog host the board and not really ask anything in return; he -is- already losing money on his business after all. bass is supposed to be a rich kid and everything and i cant imagine the server costing more than a hundred or two a month.... and i know this server isn't bass's but im sure he can front a lot of the expenses.... seeing the donations request made me laugh because it isn't like acmlm's board is such a valuable asset... there are other message boards out there, and most of you have each others contacts already anyways... oooh i dont get to post permanent messages anymore oooooh.... theres irc... email... i mean i know acmlm probably wouldnt be too happy about losing his board that has lasted almost 5 years now but im sure he'd survive without it seeing as hes barely posting anymore and hes got a bright future ahead... personally, i dont have too much of a problem with money... i tend to spend money very wildly... i donated quite an amount to 4chan and i dont even go to 4chan that often... this board however? even if 5 dollars would help, i still wouldnt consider it because i -know- that the bill can be paid without our help... and even if it cant, what does it matter... we lose a message board.... oh no i dont get to talk to new registered users that are probably gonna get banned within the next few days dont be fooled by the rocks that i got, im still im still jenny from the block i used to have a little now i have a lot, something something came from i logged in for the first time in a couple months to edit this with those lyrics (edited by Havoks on 09-10-05 02:42 AM) |

| I'm mainly talking about code changes and additions. Not to mention, of course, general userbase growth. And this server hasn't given me any big problems that I can see. The board's been down a few times, not a huge deal to me. Maybe I'd care more if I were paying the server bills, but it's not the end of my life when one website goes down for a few minutes. | HyperHacker, I know some things have changed, and actually all the images that are on this site are MOSTLY loaded from NOT THIS SERVER (IE Layouts) Furthermore, the onlything that could have increased bandwidth that much is RSS, and we all know that the tiny text files RSS spits out would not add that much overhead.... If they DO add that much overhead then all I can say is *cough cough* Also, the average views have only increased by TWENTY FIVE percent, that's not that much.... and there are still about the same post per day as there were while I hosted it. The fact remains, an $8 Lunarpages account will service this board and yeah Havoks, the whole reason for me creating this thread, is that the request for "lots and lots of money" is CLEARLY not actually for the FORUM and it rather bothered me that the administration would exploit the userbase that way to ask them for something that shouldn't even be CLOSE to their responsibilitiy. That would be like me telling all my family I had cancer so they would send me money and I bought a motorcycle instead.... |

| lol knuck you crack me up dood, that and the layout hasn't changed any.... 96% of the members are still using daily cycle... so the ONLY thing that could have affected overall bandwidth use neglecting the approximately 25% more page views (which translates EXACTLY into 25% more bandwidth which is still like nothing) would be RSS... and I as well as anybody know that the plain text output of RSS even if hit 1000's of times a day would not increase bandwidth usage that much so quit trying to snowball people into sending you money for nothing, lol |
