Erk: False. It usually has to do more with line stats than anything else, and nobody's been proven to be "capped" using BT. Only way that could possibly happen is if they were using up bandwidth like crazy.

BT --DOES-- use up bandwidth like crazy I have saturated my download and upload for 3 weeks solid with them before. And I know lots of people who have gotten C&D Letters and been capped Especially on OptiOnline. You don't hang out with anybody who actually does any of this stuff on a regular basis I was an uploader at Elite Torrents... You know that big site that the ICE and FBI busted not too long ago? I had uploaded 5 TB But I wasn't a "first supplier" so they didn't really come after me I guess but yeah lots of people get capped and letters |

So these guys actually give a damn about BitTorrent? That could be a problem, since that's where just about all my bandwidth usage comes from... About how much and what kinds of things do people generally get away with?

What Erk said might make sense. My friend was using BitTorrent like crazy after (downloading alot of DVDs). Then again, he said his speed began to suck when he had to install a router (and the speed remained down, even when he wasn't using the router) |

Hm, well I can imagine that for DVDs... In my case it's mostly animé (and for that matter most of it isn't even licensed, so AFAIK it's legal) but can take up a lot of bandwidth. My record is 100GB (dunno how, but I did it ISP didn't like it either).

actually unless it's anime recorded from TV in japan it is illegal as all the "US" Anime is released by companies such as ADX or Pioneer. Most of which are even members of the MPAA |

HH: They don't give a damn about BT unless you're using up 200/300GB of traffic in a month or something obscene like that. Don't listen to Erk.

They're not. You know what they do if the MPAA files a complaint against a user? They send the user a POLITE E-MAIL. Then again, Canadian ISP's don't give a crap about the RIAA/MPAA anways. |
