Here, in Pekin, IL it's $3.15 RIDICULOUS. Absolutely no reason anyone should have to pay this much for gas. If someone doesn't do something about it soon, there's going to be (well there already is) a lot of pissed off Americans. What's it at in your location? |

3.17 at the most, 2.70 at the least. And that's just today. Tomorrow I know for a fact the lowest prices are going to rise to levels about that of the highest. It's not supply and demand, Arwon, it's production and demand. We have plenty of fossil fuels in their crudest forms, we just don't have enough useable fuel being produced. There's no shortage. On the other hand though, if we OVERproduce, then what's going to happen when we do haev a surplus? We'll just have tons of unused fuel lying around for no reason when we really don't need it. Then production will go low again, and we'll be stuck in an even deeper hole. |

From where I live it's between $2.40 to $2.70. If I want cheap gas, then Wal-Mart is pretty much the cheapest gas in town.

$3 on average in the big O I'm buying me a back to travel from classes during the week, and I'll save money to go back and forth from town to town on the weekends. |

Ah, Arwon I was confused by what you said, I guess.... Man, OPEC needs to disband, badly. Or something. Only other solution for us otherwise is to get a hand in it, which would mean occupying an oil-rich middle eastern country... ... Like, say, Iraq. Which is just bullshit. |

It's $2.79 at the gas station I work at... it was this morning, anyway. It probably went up today, and if it did, I'll tell you tomorrow after work... I am SO glad I ride a bike to work. |

It'll just keep climbing. If it's as high as I'm hearing (~$3.55/gallon) right now, there's a real chance it'll be around $4/gallon before the end of this weekend. This weekend also happens to be a holiday, which doesn't help matters at all. If anybody wants to save money on the short term, use the city bus if you can, and stay off the roads at all costs. The consumers need to start doing their share of letting up on the use for a bit. --Edit-- Removed < (edited by Lenophis on 09-01-05 12:58 AM) |

Wow, 3-4 dollars a gallon in other areas? I think here it's about to hit 3 bucks but it's just $2.95..I haven't got gas in about a week and it was like 2.75 then..sort of a big difference. Today I just got gas and I was like "Dayuuum" ..10 bucks gave me 3 quarters..

I've seen $1.15/L (CAN) today, which at 3.79L/gallon and $0.84 US/CAN is around $3.66 ... and from what I saw in the newspaper, it might reach $1.32/L soon this week ($4.20), that's about twice what it was 10 years ago I haven't seen it under $1.00/L ($3.18) for at least a few weeks now, but there's been quite a jump lately ... I don't drive yet, though, so I'm not too concerned |

Yeah... the expense growth rate of gas is exponential. And that really sucks... I hope it doesn't take too long to run out of fossil fuels. Eventually a time will come when gas is so expensive that it will put a serious dent in your free money. I think I read somewhere that some people actually have to go without as much food as they normally would...

Well...This is what happens when 1/4 of the US refinery ability is shut down :o Oh, and why should OPEC disband? I may hate how they too often do stupid moves...But seriously. They just said they're going to increase output. Plus, the new pipeline from the Caspian to the Black Sea is almost complete. Gas prices should level out soon. But look out for commodities like food! Stop bitching about something you don't need if you live in a large city (that's why we have buses!). Start worrying about the costs of plastic! Huzzah! |

People are selfish. They LIKE thier big expensive gas hogging cars. And it's not so much bitching as it is an unwillingless to accept change. Car manufacturers and dealers can't seem to face the reality that fossil fuels will be depleted (hell, they'd be out of work unless they jumped on the Hydrogen Fuel Cell train). People don't want to have to deal with such a profound and encompassing change to one of the (seemingly) concrete and unchangeable aspects of their lives. < /generalising> When gas becomes so expensive that it means either eating less or being able to drive... that will suck. |

If it keeps spiking up like this, some people may already rethink how the money is spent. Because when a person spends between $60-$90 to fill up the gas tank...that's plain old rediculous.

My dad said he's still putting in as much money as he did before but going to try to keep it full. You need gas to get to your job to buy food and buy more gas to get to that job. Lightrail saves my life and the ozone layer..and my money. |

Here it's $1.04 Canadian per liter, which I believe is about $4.52 US per gallon. BTW, to convert Canadian to US, first multiply by 3.79 (Liters -> Gallons), then by 1.15 ($C -> $U). So yeah. Ouch. |

HH, where you live in Canada...Expect gas prices to hit about 1 30 or 1 40 a litre soon. Just a heads up. |
