At the age fo nine, seven years ago (damn, has it been that long) i owned a gameboy color and a copy of pokemon red. I played that game in all my free time. on the bus to school, in class when my work was done (this was before the whole "no electronics in class thing") at lunch... so as soon as i found out that i could duplicate rare candies and masterballs, i was ready to cream my pants.

I go to do the missingno trick and all goes according to plan, the 6th item is at about 700.

I do it many more times, with nuggets even, used the cash i got to buy coins for a porygon (why do i remember this) but anyway, sometimes i would be surfing for a missingno, and something odd would happen, it would be gary challenging me, only he didnt have the squritle evolution and the diverse, high level team, but an array of glitch pokemon, he even had an 'M' but no missingno in the team. He had 4 glitch pokemon and one eevee (could this be hinting to pokemon yellow?). After battling him, i eventually caught a missingno (big mistake) and screwed up my hall of fame data.

A little extra info, in that game, my name was SEANpkmn (with the pk and mn as single characters) and gary's name was BUTTHEAD (hey, i was 8 when i named em!), the version was red, it was on an atomic purple GBC, and i HAD beaten the eliete four.

I belevie the gary sprite was glitched a little, but i dont remember, (again, it was 7 years ago.)

i have decided to post this now, only after rediscovering pokemon, and finding boards about it, while not finding anything on this glitch. Oh, and btw, if it doesnt have a name already, lets call it the sean glitch.

It's not just you.
It happend to me too.
I might have had a GS though.
I don't play prehistoric game anymore.

There are som many secrets that gamefreaks didn't put into the final cut that it's pathetic.
Prof oak was suppose to be dualable but you can't dual him without the aid of a GS code you can turn a guy in misty's gym into the battle.
I don't remeber what the code was because I only tried it once but one thing is for sure, you were DEFENTLY suppose to fight him after the E4.
From what I understand mew was cuppose to be catchable too but they ran out of memory which is why alot of crap didn't make the final.
I havn't really looked into PKMN too much I'm sure if you google it you're bound to find something.
There was a tread in the PKMN section (where this belongs) about someone hacking the game and finding an area that isn't anywhere in the final.
You sould take a look in that section.

Actualy, you couldn't be any more off. The original game had a professor oak trainer definition so his sprite could be displayed in the intro. Mew was never supposed to be catchable. There was NOTHNG cut from the original games (Red/Blue/Yellow), and the only "hidden areas" are in Gold and Silver, and those are beta maps, if you can even call them "hidden areas". I'm so tired of all the rumors that get spread about these games And also, before anyone goes on and on about Missingno., I already explained that deal with him 110%. Look around Pokemon hacking some, I garuntee you'll find it eventualy.

and final edit: you arne't the "only one" who knows about this. In fact its entirely possible it oculd happen. The Pokemon and trainer IDs are stored in the same bank due to shit-as-hell programming in the first gen. Theres a possible chance that yopur combination of letters in memory caused his ID to be used as a wild Pokemon. As such, he will fuck up since his team is undefined. It's nothing spectacular, Missingno tricks are old news.

Yeah, like um besides the you fail it, I've fought Oak, myself as in the main character, Rival, Hell I fought a bulbasaur with a team before, and if you do go to any missingno sites it talks about this, so you aren't special, well besides to your mommy

P.S. the old team posting

I remember having a complete list of GS codes for catching pkms from #$00 to #$FF. Well, actually the list from BF to FF is where the missigno list starts. Maybe this list is actually in the PKMN rom hacking forum, but i searched for it and didn't found it.

actualy, the misisngnos. are randomly distributed throughout the list. There absolutly nbo order to it what-so-ever, and even the legit Pokemon have absolutly no order (starting the list off with Rhydon and Kangaskhan?). Blame it on shitty programming. And since you brought up the code, 01xxd8cf (or was it b8...try both i guess) is the code or catching any wild, just replace xx with a hex number. keep in mind trainers and pokemon share a bank so you might fuck up your game.

I wonder why they're ordered like that... Could it be alphabetical by their Japanese name? I'd guess the compiler just stuck them in whatever order it read the files, which I would imagine would be alphabetical.

Also, 01xx59D0 pwns 01xxD8CF.

I was really excited about the Missigno effects, and I got rare-candy happy. I seem to recall that it had some negative effects on my game, though. Still, it was one of the funnest features in Pokemon Red and Blue.

Kangaskhan + Rhydon = Garura and Sidon so, that is not the case. What is the difference between those two codes anyway? If they just do the same thing..

Ok maybe I might be wrong.
Most of the crap came from hear'say anyways.
But the prof oak battle does exist.
I went looking for it and I found it in one of my old gamefaqs printouts.

As it says in the FAQ.

Okay, I don´t see how you can get Missingno to evolve to other pokemon than Kangaskhan.

My missingno always evolved into Kangaskhan whenever I tried it.

Even I know why that code does that with Oak. Its a trainer battle modifer. It would work with ANY trainer in the game, it is not special since we all know Oak has a definition as a trainer. Missingno. evolves into Kangaskhan because he starts the list of course ._.; Pokemon 0x00.
