I'm currently reading a book about the Vietnam War for English 30-2. I can't remember the name for it. It seem ok so far. Then again, I'm only two chapters into it.

As for my fave book, it would have to be "Stone of Tears" from Terry Goodkind's series "Sword of Truth". I read it back in grade 8 in four school days. Mind you, the book is 892 pages long. The things I like most about it are the Wizard Rules. The series also gave me the basis for my fan-character, Zeddicus Zu'l Rahl, a.k.a. Lord Rahl.

That reminds me, I still need to read the two newest books.

Classic fantasy stories can be pretty good, from what I hear. While I can't really remember ever reading any classical fantasy books (save for the Lord of the Rings series), I recently bought a damaged book at a discount book fair for about $3.00. It's a big, orange hardcover called Colors of Chaos by L.E. Modesitt Jr.

I haven't actually done any significant reading of it yet. I'm currently too busy with other books I've been wanting to read. However, I managed to get a little glance through the first chapter to find out what it was. Starts out with a cleric/priest fella (of the fantastic magical variety) inspecting parcels on the way into a castle. It looks fairly interesting. Now that I have Atlas Shrugged all read, it shouldn't be too hard to breeze through the rest of the books in my "book pile". Especially considering I just started Catcher in the Rye, which I could probably read in a few short hours.

Either way, I remember that I had alot of fun reading the LotR series when i was eleven, and I am a big fan of fantasy games. In fact, I'm just now remembering that I've read quite a lot of Chrono Trigger fanfiction, and that definately counts as fantasy. I think I'll probably enjoy this one when I get to it, aside from the huge, wrinkled holes in some of the pages (the main reason for the discount).

Just to let you all know Tolkin Originally wrote LOTR as one big book but his adviser said it was to long. He then changed it into 3 books. Over time they have again been changed into 6 books but weren't given new titles. Then they were again changed back into 3 books. Although in most books it still shows the place where they had the other 3 books.

As to what Rin said "You can actually get the whole LotR series in one HUGE book (I don't know who would be stupid enough to do that)." I have the huge book with the whole series in it. When I was reading the book i uesed to take this huge book to school with me everyday.

I've done some preliminary scouting of Terry Pratchett's work. It all seems fantastic, and right up my alley. As soon as I can finish my grand pile of books, I'll get to him.

Admittedly, I haven't actually read any of his books. However, the research I've done has left me more educated than the average non-fan.

My favourite books are the Black Jewels trilogy by Anne Bishop and Dragonlance Legends ( I have the annotated version)

I'm currently reading Winds of Fate by Mercedes Lackey. Her books are a nice light read but not very deep. However the Last Herald-Mage trilogy is quite dark and are the only books I've read with a gay main character.

And now, I've just finished Catcher in the Rye, which was a simple, yet really fun book.

I'll probably have to read it through again to check for some things, as I'm not sure what relavance some parts have to the overall story. Strange how something as simple as this book could have so many complex things attatched to it.

My favorite? Dreams of Terror and Death, The Road to Madness, and Bloodcurdling Tales of Horror and the Macabre all by H.P. Lovecraft. Also, Tales of the Cthulhu Mythos, and Cthulhu 2000 by various authors are awesome. Lovecraft is my favorite author of all time, and the last two books by authors who dedicated their stories to Lovecraft are good. Lovecraft is the best writer of weird fiction/horror of all time. He can convey horror and utter terror without any of the gore or shocks of today's fiction. The ultimate horror, that we are not at the center of everything and that humans will never do anything that will last, is the scariest thing any person can read. Feeling helpless and totally unable to control anything that happens is something that is scary to humans in general.

This might be a bit late, but I did read the entire Bible once. I went through it a bit too quickly though, so I'm going over it again as a daily devotional (well, I try at least.)

Favorite book. Hard to say really. The Great Gatsby is good. Amazing Grace by Jonathan Kozol is up there as well. Then, there's The Silver Age of Comic Book Art and Understanding Comics which are good

They usually put diary books with no chapters, they sometimes even just have a new starter page for each entry with a date. I saw the anne-frank movie/show. It was pritty cool for a war movie

My favourite book would have to be The 13th Valley.
Likes: The detail, descriptions behind each soldier, the whole atmosphere of the book (deep in the jungles of Vietnam)
Dislikes: I wanted it to be longer!! (i suppose 666 pages is long enough though )

Last book I read was Citadel, another Vietnam war book about retaking Hue. My dad is a Vietnam veteran and has plenty of books so I read through one whenever I get the chance.

And I refuse to read books like Harry Potter or anything like that. But that's just the environment i've been brought up in I guess. Military influenced because of all the stuff my dad has told me about war and all the items he has from the Vietnam war.
