I've read all sorts of exerpts of the Christian Bible, but it all probably only amounts to less than 25% of the total book.

Oh, man! That reminds me!

You know what makes Bible stories amazing to read? Motherfucking Legos.

This is seriously one of my all-time favorite sites.

Back when I actually cared about it, I kinda liked reading Revelation. Now, however, I think Tim LaHaye is at best, the world's most insidious asshat. You figure that one out.

Not that I'm aware of, although it did have apes. That were super intelligent.
I'm sure the movie sucked, but the book didn't.

My favorite book is The Hours. I don't like to discuss this book.

The last book I read was yesterday, Animal Farm, by George Orwell. Required for school, I'm sure some of you had read it. More interesting of the books I've read. It discusses socialism and things like that.
I'm sorry my descriptions suck.

The best part of Animal Farm was its length. It was short enough to make its point without inciting the boredom that is near necessary when discussing government, politics, and similar themes. I did indeed read it as part of a school assignment, but if I'd known how great it was then I might've taken a look at it anyway.

Also, I've never read 1984, but I loved Brave New World by Aldous Huxley. They're very much alike, I'm told. Anyone read it?

What's your favorite book? - I am a HUGE reader, so there are waaay to many for me to list. I've been reading for almost my entire 30 years of existance.

What was the last book you read? What was it about, and who wrote it? What did you like/dislike about it? - I am currently reading Belgarath The Sorcerer by David & Leigh Eddings. Their Malloren, Belgariad, and Belgarath & Polgara books are my all time favorite series of books. One of my favorite things about the books is that I read all 12 at least once a year, and have been for the past 6 or 8 years, and every single time I read them, I discover something new. Sometimes I understand something that I just read before, but didn't comprehend. Other times, I see foreshadowing, and I realize just exactly what it's saying. Sometimes it's simple, like the correct pronunciation of certain names just sink into my thick skull.

I mostly read fantasy books, like Dragonlance or Forgotten Realms, though I also read the occasional Stephen King or Dean Koontz. I don't really have a favorite Koontz book, but I love King's Dark Tower series. I can't wait for the last few books to come out. Matter of fact, I think the 5th one is supposed to come out this year... I'll hafta ask my wife...

Yeah, I read Brave New World too. I liked it, but not that much... it's thematically similar to 1984, but they're very, very different in execution.

I remember reading a bit of trivia somewhere concerning 1984. Apparently (I haven't read the book, so correct me if I'm wrong), some part of it says that a computer advertizement will interrupt a major sporting event. As a tribute to this, Macintosh supposedly aired their very first commercial during the 1984 Superbowl.

Lets see the last book i finished would of had to be "Goodnight Mr Tom". Yet another novel based on world war two. If it had of been up to me i wouldn't have read it but it was the book my English teacher gave me to read.

It would be hard to say what my favorite book of all time would be but the searise i'm reading at the moment would have to come close. It's called "The Chronicals Of Tomas Covernant". I don't know if any of you lot have read it but if you have i would be intrested in hearing your coments.

About the Bible i would only ever read it if it was a task my religion teacher gave me. Other than that i have absorlutly no intrest in it at all.

See, the problem with me and books(same with movies) is that I'm just too damned lazy to read through them. I'm too slow a reader and I can't stay focused. (that may explain some things) Anyway, I do know about them. Take Lord of the Rings. I am no person who turned into a Tolkeinite because I saw the movie. I heard of the book like six years ago. I started reading the Hobbit 4 years ago(took me a year), and Fellowship of the Ring the following year. Then, I read up to page 100 of Two Towers(which I got up to in fall '03). I started reading that book in summer '01. Same with Jurassic Park. And besides Animal Farm(last spring), Kitchen God's Wife, and To Kill a Mockingbird(both summer '03) which were required reading, those are the two books which I have last "read".(JP and TTT) I also have many other books which my brother insists that I read but just sit on my shelf. (He reads a new book every two weeks or so.) My sisters also read quite frequently. I'd love to read, but I can never get too interested. To Kill a Mockingbird is one of my favorites. I would like to say LOTR is another one, but I never actually finished reading the series.(although I DO know what happens.)

I must say that LOTR is a very long story as it took me a year to read it but just seeing the movie isn't enough. Because the book is so long there is no way they could fit every important detail in the movie. This resalted in them cutting out huge amounts of detail. So even if it takes ages to read it is well worth having a go at. You can't truly know the delightful tail of LOTR until you read the books.

I don't wanna turn this thread into a LOTR thread but..

LotR was originally 6 books wasn't it? Then they decided it to be put into the 3 books we know today. You can actually get the whole LotR series in one HUGE book (I don't know who would be stupid enough to do that). I mean why would you want to carry that thing round O_o I love the ending part of Return of the King in the book, the Scouring of the Shire I think it was called. I found that hilarious for some reason, and I always re-read that part. I like how in the movie and the end of the book the last words are "I'm back" said by Sam. I also read the Hobbit which was a great book.. Sometimes I think Tolkien is overrated though..

I liked reading mysteries for a while. Really into them. The first good one I read was The Hound of the Baskervilles by AC Doyle (Sherlock Holmes!!!). Pretty good, then I read Agatha Christie's Evil Under the Sun and Murder on the Orient Express. Agatha Christie's books are good, but I hate how they draggggggg onnnnnn and onnnnnnn.. They get exciting near the end, but if you dont read the whole thing you just don't appreciate it as much I think
