| Pronounced "sah-ghey", meaning "to lower", or something to that effect. Not particularly important. What is important, is it's something entered into the email field of this anonomous-based image board called 4chan.org (and a few other sites, but I'm talking about this one right now  ). Originally it was intended as a show of courtesy, in order to add something to a thread, and not bump it. I don't know if this is a simple thing to program or not, totally not my department. Since there's no email field to speak of, maybe some kind of third button? [submit post] [preview post] [submit unbumped post] I can guess that this might bring some mild risk of spam, but I think it'd be nice to have so you can thank someone for answering a question while maintaining the courtesy of not bumping a thread that is no longer useful. I don't doubt there could be other uses that/benefits I can't think of at the moment. I guess at least express whether or not you think you'd find this useful/beneficial. Answering a question generally won't be closed, since it's on topic and isn't something stupid or pointless and can sometimes bring a thread back to life. In short: Bad idea; common sense would outdo this idea in many ways. |

| I guess you're right, I'm not familiar with the personalities of people here, so I wasn't sure. And I guess I just spent too much time on 4chan, where post count meant nothing. I think even in the case where an unbumped post was specified like an edit, and didn't pc+1, it's still a little pointless for this board. I guess I just hate bumping, I'll get over it. |

| Saging in acmlms board? Honestly, the only thing I could imagine this doing is making people meaner. Generally speaking, the people of 4chan are intolerant assholes. Think about it. Give people an ability to say 'this thread sucks, SAGE!' while somewhat giving them the power to set up a death sentance on a thread (ie, closing with enough sage replies, or shortening the maximum number of reply amounts). Then again... this isn't that kind of message board. Giving anyone the power to close threads in that way... this message board would take a very nasty turn. |
