Okay my computer has been habitly slowing down for intervals of 10 seconds to a minute where I can do nothing but wait for it to go by. Even when the computer is idle it does it.

This doesnt make any sense as I have a Pentium D processor (2.8 ghz per core).
At first I thought it was a Bios update as they tend to do the same thing but an udpate wouldnt drag on for this long.

Also it wasnt happening as much until system restore had to fix an error a CD caused.

I have no spyware, virus, trogans, etc.

any help would be appreciated.

Have you tried System Mechanic by Iolo? Its a 30 day trial (nothing a little regediting can't fix). It fixes up a bunch of problems on computers. It's good.

Downloading it now, hopefully it will help out. It been pissing me off, having to deal with slow downs with a fast processor..

...unrelated but I didnt want to make another thread.
Does anyone know how to chang .mov formats to WMV's. We're trying to view a friend's skate videos on his computer but it isnt working. (quick time doesnt work)

The two converting programs we did try ended up not working either.

Any help would be appreciated

If you need any help with System Mechanic just let me know. Also, if you decide you want to keep the program for longer than 30 days, I can tell you how to regedit out the trial so it resets back to 30 days.

As for converting .mov to .wmv, have you tried this program: River Past Video Cleaner

Hope that one does what you need.

Hmm, in Mr. Rich's class we just set the date back a week or so on the time and the programs would all keep work no need to use regedit.

That worked for Alcohol 120, I love that program. Fooling the computer into thinking you have the game CD in the drive. We needed it for all the LAN games we played.

You can rent DVD's burn the image and have the DVD forever. Same for games as well, its awesome I highly suggest it if you dont already have it.

Thanks for the converter, just have to see if it works on my friends comp now.

Thanks man

I have that program already.

About the time reset thing: That works for some things. I used to do it for Nortons Antivirus all the time before my mom actually bought it.

Also, why doesn't quicktime work on your friends PC? You need quicktime at least installed for that program to work apparently.
