I'm sure this might have been brought up at one point or another, but I think it would be very beneficial to practically every user on this board if there was a way we could retract a vote(s) we've made for other users.

Is there any chance on something like this being implemented anytime soon?

Seriously, there really is no point to ratings other then making your e-penis bigger. Anyone can send you a 0 or a 10 and make you look like a god. But, in the end you have to judge the person yourself. Not by a rating.

Yes, I agree and that's been established. But seeings how they're not going anywhere then we might as well make them more convenient.

Either that or just get rid of the rating system altogether... I think it's a really useless feature, like post radars...

The Post radar is more a feature which might come in handy when you want to compare with somone, who is likely close to you, concerning the post counter. It may not have a real purpose like the Calendar, but it is just a neat add-on.

About ratings: People get rated by sympathy anyway the most time. If a very high-level user (not the powerlevel but the calculted level from registration time and experience) rates a lower person who got a 10 previously with a 2 maybe, the rating pretty will drop to a relatively low value if the rated person got votes from other people with lower levels.

Admins can see who voted for you and who you did give your vote; but mostly you will encounter people high in the 8s+ or having dozens of 0s, which mostly applies to banned people and ones who opened stupid threads mutliple times.

I use the post radar solely for "shortcuts" to user profiles whose profiles I visit pretty frequently, and/or users who I pm often as well.

I use it for the same thing as Legion. And Stifu, the spammers are gonna spam no matter what. The existance of the post radar, or lack thereof, won't have any effect. Especially when there's still the ACS, which is probably 10x more responsible for spam than the post radar.

As for user ratings, I against them from the beginning. However, it was decided that they'd stay, and now I no longer care. Someone's rating of me means nothing. Since they're here to stay, as Legion said, they should be made a little more user-friendly.

I don't like the user rating either because people usually give other a zero even if they don't know them too well like the 2 guys who rated me a zero.

Instead of this, I actually think it would be convienent if we could view our own personal votes that we've given out to people. That way, if we feel we should change someones vote, we'd know ...

But being able to delete our vote for them is probably a good idea also.

But just like you guys, I also kind of careless about the feature, but it's not like it's hurting us so we need to get rid of it or something, just one of those little options.

Rating system was a feature added by Acmlm.
Maybe it's just me, but since this is Acmlmboard, this kind of thing shouldn't be removed.
Is my logic stupid?

Right, but once you vote, you will always affect that user's rating somehow. There's no way to just remove your vote.

I don't want to see ratings removed. It's a pointless feature, yes, but it's still amusing. It's not doing harm. Didn't someone suggest a while back to disable having your rating shown? That could please people like fabio who are bothered by their scores.

I like Xeogred's idea of reviewing your own votes.

Disabling votes might be an idea. I could say I'm a bad guy because my rating is below seven, on the old AcmlmBoard it was nearly ten - also very few people voted for me. I think a single "0" by Acmlm had drawn that vote down to 1 or something similar.

As stated - if someone had a zero but is a nice girl/guy, I won't care about the rating as long I know the person has some "brain power" and/or is nice. A person like Karadur fulfills both and it won't change my positive attitude about him, even if he got a zero in his profile

The thing is, if it's spam then let staff know about it. If you think it encourages users to post little extra, let them. If they outright spam, we notices it anyway.

I wouldn't care if the rating system got removed or being kept.

I like that idea. I hope they put that in the next version of Acmlm's board.

There will always be spammers, even if there's ACS at a board. Just take a look at the Gamefaqs message board and look at all the spam that's appears a lot.

See the part in bold? I was using the existance of the ACS as a point in my argument that the Post Radar doesn't encourage that much spam.

Since re-voting changes your vote, maybe it could just add an 'un-vote' option which changes it to null or something like that.

Also, post radar is quite useful. At least when you have Proxomitron to inject Javascript into the page to organize it into a neat little table showing peoples' posts and their difference from yours. Makes a good buddy list too.

Yeah, I'm just saying you don't really need to add another link or anything to remove a vote and actually delete it from the database; just make another rating which is ignored in calculation. Probably a bit simpler to code.
