Whenever I use Windows Media Player, or Nero to burn an audio CD, the program always shoves in 2 seconds of silence at the start of each track. Like, as a cut off point.

This is incredibly annoying, when I want tracks to flow seamlessly into eachother. Does anyone know how to fix this, or a program that writes audio cds the way i want to?

And also, the firewire socket on my pc does not work AT ALL. No matter what I do, My computer just doesnt seem to think the firewire socket exists. Which is pretty annoying.

I can answer the first one via Nero. It should be a matter of selecting all the tracks in what you're going to burn (AUDIO1's list) and choosing Properties. Swap silence to from 2 to 0. Done.

As for the second, if going into the Device Manager doesn't show a Firewire port (IEEE-1394) or an unknown device, then it's probably disabled in your motherboard's BIOS. Mine is, I never use them, they take up resources (not much, I know, but still) that I don't need them to.

Well, the nero tip worked, thanks! I didnt think of that, the last time I tried changing it, it didnt work.....but for some reason it does now

Still havent got a clue about the firewire problem though, It isnt listed in device manager, and its nowhere to be seen in the bios.

Try looking for BIOS updates, then.
