I guess chances are I'll be ignored or told to just do that myself if I really want it, but I thought it wouln't hurt posting this just in case... Here's my wish list:

-Ability for normal users to reply to a topic where they already have the last reply as long as their new reply is different (prevents double posts and lets you bump topics)

-Making it so the Online users page shows page titles instead or raw links. Exception for private forums: If you don't have the proper permissions to access or see the private forums - either "censor" the page title if the forum is restricted but visible, or just don't make the user appear at all in the list if the forum is invisible for normal users...

-Possibility to edit a Private Message as long as the recipient hasn't opened it yet

-Making it impossible to post a poll if there's not at least ONE choice... And/or make poll creation more userfriendly, because I have to admit it's a bit weird how the page needs to be refreshed to add choices...

That's it.

1.) It got already discussed, in forums like ROM Hacking and such it makes sense like to refresh a topic containing offsets to certain games, yes. In other forums like the Newbie Forum it is useless, since mostly it will only go for "post counter +1" each time, if people replied three times in a row.

As a workaround you can copy the last post's content into clipboard, delete it, then adding a new reply, with a message like "Update!" and merging the two posts together.

2.) Click here for a FREE iPod and twelve FREE cell phones (That topic ist just here, some threads below this one and it is also mentioned inside it)

3.) Good idea - I accidently PMed Hiryuu once, as I hit enter too fast after entering the message title - he got an emtpy message. I just sent the correct one after that one and it could be considered dumbness or too fast fingers, but it is just a convenience and you even can check if the message was read or not. Does this already apply if you still have messages with "NEW" in your "Sent" folder already ?
This is a feature I like on commercial boards, I think Acmlm's could also improve with that but also keeping its familiar character too.
To add something to your suggestion:

How about separating the "Sent" folder into two separate ones like "Outgoing" and "Sent" ?
If you sent a PM but the receipient didn't read it (_reading_ it, not just being online but not accessed that message), it could be stillbe inside the Outgoing folder, while it will be moved aqutomatically to "Sent" if the message was delivered when the receipient opened it.

4.) It is still to make stupid polls like "Dos xyzs dik sukk?" and entering the same answer multiple times; so I think there will be no need for that.
And about refreshing; it could be done simply by adding a field like "Number of choices" - but usually it was fine. Just .. how did Karadur something like that without using an insane amount of time for adding all answers ?

1) Well, people who want to spam will do so (or try to, at least) whether they can reply more than once in a row or not... They have many ways to do it.
As for the delete thing, yeah, that works... However, I used to have the delete option taken off on my board because some guy used to delete everything he said... Which reminds me of another suggestion:

5) Make it impossible for a regular user to delete one of his messages unless it is the last message of a topic... Or something like that. People who want to get rid of old messages of theirs for some weird reason can just edit them, so the flow of a thread won't be messed up. (I mean, you won't see like someone talking alone because someone else deleted all his messages in it)

2) Okay, thanks... I started reading this, but I don't have much time right now so I'll read all of it later.

3) Yeah, an Outgoing folder would work... I was actually thinking of making it so you can edit the message as long as the "New" sign is still showing on the recipient side, but either works.

4) Same comment as for spam above... If people want to be stupid, then it's on them, but polls should by definition should have at least 1 option (or even 2). That's simply the point of polls, being able to vote. Else it's not a poll... Or maybe make it so that if you post a poll with no vote option, then it'll just show as a regular thread. But the first solution makes more sense to me, with like a warning popping up when you try to submit it, telling you your poll must have at least 1 or 2 options.

There are only 2 things I can think of that would be awesome:

1. The ability to edit your own threads thread title and locked status (you can lock, but not unlock).

2. Custom username colors.

The first one would be great, the second would just be nice. Even if it was only a per user bases. Like if I made my name neon green, ONLY I could see it. Maby even have the admin/mod/banned colors not useable.

Terrible idea. Just say someone starts a thread about a semi-controversial topic. If a person comes along with an entirely different viewpoint to that of the original poster, the original poster could stick in a post flaming the hell out of the person with the different viewpoint, and close the thread. What I am trying to say is that it will get abused to all hell.

I wouldn't trust 75% of the users of this board with the ability to close their own threads. Actually make that 90%.

Something simple I though of... for all you 56kers out there...

How about a "View posts, newest to oldest" option?

Some people dont want to wait for an entire page to load to read threads... even if you CAN click new reply.

Just conveinence if anything

on the subject of PMs, why not make it where hitting enter in the PM title doesn't send the PM? That would avert a lot of empty message problems.

That doesn't sound like such a good idea to me. Also, you may send a PM that you DID want to send and all, but right after you realize something is wrong with it, or that it needs to be updated etc...

Also, while we're there, I suggest the ability to delete a PM that hasn't been read... So the recipient doesn't even see the useless/outdated/whatever PM at all. (example: you send a PM asking for help about something, then find the answer you were looking for somewhere else before the person could read your PM - so you just go and delete it)

And yeah, MSN addresses (and Yahoo ones, although I don't use it) in profiles are long overdue...

Hmmm, I can't see the point...
However, some other forum system has it so that leaving your cursor over a thread title will display the beginning of the first message of the thread, which may be an interesting feature.

The "New" icons do the job just fine, no need for anything else in my opinion...

new icons are useless if EVERY single thread has one...i mean, there are threads where i'm the last person to post and the NEW icon is still there..

another thing: having the board wide announcement be generated in index.php, instead of forum.php...

Then maybe you need to learn about the "Mark forum read" links... ¬_¬

Edit: Another feature request - add a "Photo" link in profiles for people who are in the Photo album. Or better than a mere link, a 60x60 pic that you'd have to click to get the enlarged version, just like in the Photo album.

- Make numgfx NOT mark itself as the last page you viewed
- ...or any other image script, for that matter
- Fix page titles (unless you intended to have every page show up as "Acmlm's Board", in which case you suck)
- Put the generation timer back
- Make the New PM notice that shows up on every page suck less
- Remove the <br> from between the post radar and the users-in-forum bar in the forum list
- move the damn RSS feed link
- various other stupid fixes that should've been ironed out long before 1.B arrived

After finally being able to test the new "color schemes"...

- LEARN HOW TO MAKE LAYOUTS THAT DON'T SUCK

Another one:

No more than one "edited by..." line. It's annoying to see messages with like 5 or 10 of those lines.
It'd be nice if there was only 1 edit line for edited messages, with a counter showing how many times it's been edited...
Example: (edited by Stifu [3 times])
And you'd be able to click the "3 times" link to make a pop up appear (for instance), detailing at what time each of the edits were done, for those who are interested... This way threads aren't polluted with useless edit lines.

Also, is there no way to display edit lines OVER people's background image ?

Those are logical suggestions, so expect them to be ignored, as per usual.

But yeah, simply adding a variable or 2 for other messangers wouldn't be that bad of an idea at all, and it's quite simple.

I made a thread exactly like this in the staff forum weeks back, so I may as well copy and paste my suggestions from there to here, to get others opinions I guess ...
I've been meaning to make this thread for awhile now, thought I'd do it someday.

Anyways, yeah this could be posted in Help / Suggestions, but I thought I'd get more feedback here, and others might share suggestions also.

These are just ideas that I have for mainly ||bass, Kasumi, and others. I'm assuming it's no harm to make such a thread like this.

1. Announcements
There was a thread posted awhile back suggesting that announcements show up on the index. From there I came up with this idea. Announcements show up on the index when they are "NEW" for a user, and until that user clicks on the Announcements through the index, it will show up as NEW. Like PM's, only once you've read it, the whole table for Announcements on the index will go away. This way, I think we'd get more people reading Announcements. Maybe for guests Announcements would just always appear on the index?

2. Post box / Posting expansions
Some of these ideas have been brought up several times before.

Post Options; the ability to post, and easily check boxes that could disable, HTML, your Layout, Smilies, and &commands, and maybe other things. Easier than having to post, then go back and edit your post to take out your Layout, or disable these things.

Also, adding the spoiler tag to the toolbar might be conveinent. And, possibly making the spoiler tag, an actual tag that could allow users to customize it with their own CSS, or whatnot.

Another thing, would be when posting a link, say http://board.acmlm.org/whatup.php , it would automatically be created a link. I've seen this done in phpBB boards before. Personally, it's no problem for me to quickly make a 'a href' link tag for links, but I'm sure we can all agree, that there have been people in the past and probably will continue to be, people who have no idea what HTML even is; and we all know how annoying it is to edit someones post and change a url to an actual link (it sounds simple, but ... I've seen in the past most people find it annoying ).

Making the blockquote more specific. Right now quoting someone or something consists of a handful of tags, and it's sometimes tedious. I've found myself opening a new window and then just copying and pasting all of the tags needed to quote something. So, it would be nice if that were simplified.

A final idea on posting, would be the abilty to highlight text, and then apply tags to them. The tags would then appear on each side of the highlighted text, beginning with a opening tag, then a closing tag at the end. This is, again seen on phpBB boards and I think would be nice to have here. Again, it's not impossible to just manually type in the tags yourself, but it would be a nice addition to have, and would quickin posting.

That's it for now (from me, I can't remember the other ideas I had at the moment). Suggestions, and feedback are welcome.

I probably should have brought this up before, but...

For the 1.B [new] themes, I think it might be kind of a nice idea to allow users to customize what links appear under "My Places".

I mean there isn't a whole lot of unlisted pages on the index or anything, but maybe it would be a good idea? I guess.

*New ----

1. Users should be able to edit their own thread titles. It would just be obviously, very nice. And I couldn't count how many times I've seen:
"[post stuff here] games are fun.
edit: Whoops, I didn't spell the games name right in the thread title, can a mod fix that?"

I forgot one: Having check boxes to disable smilies, board tags, HTML and stuff at the bottom, when posting and editing a message... Something similar to Ogre's hack.
