Like, is it possible to change around the levels? I know how to corrupt and such, and I was curious if anyone found any data for the game? I might go looking for data if anyone says if its hackable. | |||

I would say, of course its posible I would think you can change around the levels too, if thats what your trying to do. Maybe if you find the asm code for when you select a level, you can change it and make it warp you to a different level Its probally not that easy tho Maybe somebody more experienced can further elaborate on that -- |

Well if anyone cares, I have found some data. It seems the levels are composed of what I will call Sectors. If you make 0xA100 to 0xB100 a FF (Im corrupting here...) the second Sector of the first level is blank and unpassable. Second sector meaning this pic... Mario is in the First Sector...Or, the starting screen of 1-1. When you go to go where that Goomba and the Pipe and Block are...WHITE! That of course because it is all FF so it is all the same. I am expirementing with more as we speak, so lets see what I can do. Also if you care. I think it also contains the Sprite placement, because I got the Goomba to start in the pipe, and the Block to be moved up, and be even unusable! Also I got the Pyramid BG to be moved. S&T, any progress? This game should be pretty easy to do graphical hacks for, considering how few colors there are and how small the sprites are. If the level design is simple, it would be a great game for newbies to cut their teeth on. |

Well, I don't know much, but that's what I know so far: Map 1-1: 0xA2BE Structure: The first byte is split in two parts. The high 4 bits are a y-component(y) and the low 4 bits are a lenght(x). The game draws x tiles to y + 2(because of the status bar at the top of the screen). If there is a FE byte it goes to the next row. Boy do I have progress! I was able to find out how to edit not only the first Goomba in 1-1, but every other one in 1-1 and 1-2!!! I havnt found all the addresses for them all yet, but I have the first Goombas! It is 0xA004. That address is usually 00(or at least it should be!), and changing it changes the whole object! I have a list of what objects are what so far...Im going to bed though...My dad catches me up he will have a fit! *Begin copying from notes* ---Enimey Data 00 Goomba 01 Flattened Goomba 02 Pirahna Plant 03 SURPRISE! Invisible Flying Bat thing that appears out of nowhere after a few seconds and flips around like a mad man! 04 Turtle 05 Exploding Turtle Ball 06 Punching Hand 07 Rising Platform that you step on and it rises. 08 1-3 Boss! Pretty funny in 1-1! 09 Fugged up....thing....Killable by jumping on it. 0A Falling Platform 0B Left to Right Platform 0C Falling Tile from 1-2 (Falls as you pass by it) 0D Nothing? 0E Jumping Bat thing... 0F Death of Jumping Bat thing... 10 Jumping Fish (Messed up Tiles in 1-1 *Need to test in other level*) 11 Nothing? 12 Nothing? 13 Same as 07 14 Uhh...Same as 07....but it rises on its own! 15 Hear the JBT death noise... 16 Uhh...Fireballs? But not Fireballs? Maybe im confused... 17 Half of 1-3 boss that kinda....Went in a Counter-Clockwise motion and then vanished... 18 Kinda like 16...but waits to attack... 19 Same as 15 1A Cue the 2-3 Water boss...But it keeps rising. Probobly needs walls to stop it. That, and it is supposed to center on a "Swimming" Mario. 1B Fireball! 1C Nothing? *End notes* I have a bunch more things too! But nothing too big. Im off to bed guys! Hope you like what you see so far because I will be working ALL DAY tomorrow on more! EDIT: Id also like to confirm the 1-1 1-2 and 1-3 all seem to use the same Tileset because they all work in 1-1 but they dont in other levels! This probably means that all worlds share tilesets for there 3 levels. Well of course Frank15 made a SML hack! But it was a colorizer/enemy placment hack! No level or anything else changes! And also he never released any of his data...And of course, hes not around anymore...Been a month now since he's been here. Anyways, Im going back to work on this. The question is....Does anybody care? Will anyone actually use my data? What if I learned VB6 and made a Level Editor? Off to work! (I'll be keeping you guys updated) Update 1: Wow I was so tired last night I didnt notice I put the wrong offset....Its 0xA004 guys....Sorry about that. Update 2: Heres the list so far. (Most likley passthroughable) 2D Flower (Passthroughable) A little ways off the ground. 2E Flower (Passthroughable) On the ground. 2F It start as one thing, then splits into three. (This is from another level. Which one im not sure...2-2?) 30 Something that scoots across the ground. Unkillable? 31 Moving really fast thing (From another level) 32 Cue a boss. Which one im not sure yet. 33 Starts flipping around like a mad man! Not sure what it is.... 34 Left Moving Star (Passthroughable) 35 Falling....object.... 36 Falling Object from the end of levels UPDATE 3!! Thanks to Coolmans 1-1 data, I was able to figure out how it works....Sorta. At least, I can make the sky lower and go up...See? I can control it so far, but Im not sure whats going to happen next. Im going to play with the sky a bit....
