It's slow, freezes the computer, and everytime I just start at the People PC home page I get attacked by Pop-Ups . What are some not so expensive internet provider peoples? I have People PC Online..it sucks. Well yeah..it's cheap but do those downloadable pop-up blockers even work? My dad was thinking about getting Net Zero. Is it any good?

Go for bigfoot, it's so much better and cheaper. $25-23 a month and connects with local calls. |

Panicware.com's Pop-up Stopper works really well for me, and it's free. As for the internet providers, I'll leave that up to the other members of this board - I'm spoiled with a cable connection, which admittedly is a bit pricey, so it may or may not be what you're looking for. I've never used NetZero, so can't comment on that. =\ Good luck! |

Wow, pop-ups at a ISP page... that sounds really desperate. Are you forced to have that homepage? If there is something I hate that is forced homepages. (Some ISP requires manual login from the browser, which then leads to the ISP's page... who is mostly full of commercials. ) |

Another option is not to click on every stupid add or random link you get via email or elsewhere, and not to use Internet Explorer for that matter.

Yeah, try an alternate browser first, such as Firefox, it's faster than IE in the process of loading web pages, features a shitload of goodies (in-built pop-up blocker and much other, especially since 0.8) and, just by the way, avoids the IE with its endless number of security holes. IE is concerning that like swiss cheese (edited by Gandalf The Grey on 04-13-04 09:24 AM) |

Hey, don't bash AOL. They HAVE to make it that way for the dumber people out there to understand it. Since this takes up a good 2/3 of my familty, I'm also forced to use it... But on the other hand, I've grown somewhat accustomed to it. Not as bad as people say, anyway, and I do like the features... Before anyone says to try something else to compare features because AOL's all suck, I had an MSN internet-only comp for a short while. It was 100% terrible. |

Wouldn't it just be easier to use a browser that has built-in pop-up stoppers and allows you to add/delete sites from it at your own leisure? "My DSL dies everytime someone calls my house" Ever think of calling tech support? Something's up with your wiring... |

I had AOL with DSL. I guess it was too expensive and stuff so we got rid of it. A couple of my friends told me Net Zero freezes a lot so..I'll just try it anyway later . I'll try Firefox in a bit. I got a downloaded pop-up blocker and it hasn't froze..yet.

Well, Bella... My internet hasn't been evil exactly like that, but it's been evil. I'd probably had to deal with about 70 disconnects this past weekend. I'm surprised my modem didn't meet one of the four walls in my room, as I was tempted... very tempted to just practice some physical move on it. Firefox is indeed a good browser, though. The tabs and other things has made it the best one I've used yet.

Panicware.com pop up stopper thingy doesn't work for me. I need a free one . I got another free one from there but it froze my computer once or twice but it worked when I first got it. My sister downloaded Stopzilla but you have to register it so it'll only work for 15 days . So tomorrow morning when I have time I'll try and download FireFox . |
