I guess this is the place to put composed music, right? It's my best guess. I'm been doing a few MIDIs with a freeware composing utility. Mostly stuff that could be game background music. My earlier ones probably suck more (my first five sound very alike and crappy, can you guess which ones they are?), which means there are some that are okay, some that suck, and some that bleed your ears. Well, enjoy! The titles aren't very descriptive, but hey, I write music, not names! The List boss doom1 doom2 doom3 final forest mystery mystical puzzle round timed violin1 vs NOTE: The three "doom" pieces are all the same song, played at different speeds. That's because they were for a game's final level, and the music got faster as you got closer to beating it. There's also a few more music pieces that I didn't put up. But most of those fall under the "bleeding your ears" category. |

Ooo...free midee's. Seriously, though, I still horde these whenever I get a chance...so bad that Bouche actually put on the RAR file that he had 'Hiryuu_likes_MIDIs.rar'... Anyways...[fires up the Microsoft Synth]...I really wish I had the old Yamaha on here. Okay...won't try to kill you over these... Boss: Ehh...pretty simplistic and repetitive for four channels. Doom1-3: I was kinda hoping something DOOMish, but not too bad. A little more complex than the last one... Final: Sounds like it goes to a clock ticking. XD Forest: The repetitive drum pretty much takes away from the other two channels' duet, but otherwise not too bad. Mystery: Hmm...can't really think of anything too wrong with this one. Not a bad 3-channel one. Mystical: Nice Doo's vs. Aah's piece. Still don't like that repetitive drum but it wasn't a constant thing throughout like Forest was. Puzzle: Yep...reminds me of Final. Sounds like it should be the backdrop of some sweatdrop scene. Round: A little better on the drums this time around. Okay short. Timed: I'm guessing this is supposed to be the hyper version of the last one. Crack version more like...XD Violin1: Not a bad overall tune here at all...but like your other ones, it still lacks on the percussion. :\ Vs: Not bad...I can tell why it's called 'VS' at least. So it basically boils down to that you can get a good melody out with the majority of these but your bassline is usually pretty repetitive. Not too bad otherwise. |

I already have 3500 midis, but why not download some more of them, lol... I could pretty much say what Prier said about each song, so I'm not going to repeat that. But being an honest, they don't really impress me at all. Some of the melodies are quite good, but... There isn't anything else other than the melodies and the boring, repetitive drums. If you put some chords and a real bassline in there, they could be good, but... I don't know how much possibilities there are with a freeware composing utility, but I bet you could do better than this. I made better songs than these when I was 12 years old. Then again, I was born with excellent music skills, so I guess that's just the case with me... Maybe I should post those midis in another thread, lol... If this sounds confusing, it's because my English music vocabulary lacks. Off-topic: While we're talking about that, I've bought music hardware and software for over 2000$. As soon as I get my equipment and make a song, I'll post some real stuff here at this board... |

Not bad, but a tad trippy. The boss one could use work, it sounds a bit off-beat. I would recommend FruityLoops as your music creating tool. Professionals use it and it's much better than any Midi-maker. |

Probably more professional than midi, yes, but if you're looking for serious software, try Reason, Cakewalk Sonar or Cubase. The last one is what I'm getting soon. Holy crap! 2000$? Wish I had that kind of money of spend! Course, if I did, I wouldn't spend it on music stuff. Probably PC stuff instead.Originally posted by DurfarC Well, my current composing utility doesn't seem to allow chords(without using an electronic keyboard, and I don't have one, so I just punch in the notes with my mouse), so maybe that IS a problem. But a "real bassline"? Tell me more. |

I have rich grandparents, so I get much money from them. I don't know why I said exactly "a real bassline", but what I mean, it's like your melodies are amazing, but there aren't any other instruments, like some strings or guitars or whatever it should be. And of course, the bassnotes should be deeper than they are now. But from what you say, it sounds like there are some limit on the program, so it's not really your fault, lol. Give me some times, and I can make an example song. (edited by DurfarC on 08-08-05 04:43 PM) |

Ok, here's a short example. It only lasts for four bars, but compare the two first ones with the two last ones, and you'll see what I mean. I am in no way trying to sound professional with this, I only used five minutes on it. |

Hmmm....Well, I'll try to include some more and differing percussion next time. I also figured out that you can do chords on my program. The problem was that I didn't know how. Still don't. Is it 3-2-3 keys apart? 2-3-2? I honestly haven't got a clue. | |||

Ah, it's not the best music in the world but it's not that bad. The one called "mystery" was undoubly the best I think... But yeah, they get a bit boring... No bassline or anything... Work a bit with 'em and I'm sure they will be better. |
