Glenn, meanwhile, had grabbed his bo staff from where it had been laying in the back. He didn't expect it to be of much use, but it was better than nothing.

Glenn: It's always something when we come to this town...

Teddy set aside his business for a few seconds longer to look and see what all the commotion was about. He couldn't resist drama, really. The bear was about to pull his head back into the store, being pleased with the craziness, until he realized that that broad, Luna, was making off with his trusty Rusty ... the nerve of her.

He notified the store manager that he'd be off on a high-horse powered chase and made sure that his order would be ready by the time he got back. Teddy dashed toward the watering hole, untied the reigns to one of the horses, and, after a bit of time used struggling to climb onto the horse, set off in the general direction where everybody else was headed.

His legs were too short to fit in the stirrups, so they flapped with the beat of the borrowed horse's lope. The horse he picked out certainly was faster than his Rusty, so it didn't take much time to catch up to the theif ... and pass her ... and dust her ...

Teddy: I WAN'T MY HORSE BAAAAaaaaaaaack ... please.

Luna tried to catch back up to the bear, not planning to even stop, but to just grab him, put him on the horse and jump to his horse, which was obviously faster, and get going. She knew where Maya was going.

Luna: "HAVE YOUR HORSE BACK, ITS SLOW!"

Maya, who probably had the biggest lead, was chasing after the guy with Mitra, pushing the horse so she could keep in sight, although she swore she could run faster.

Maya: "I should've worn shoes... i didn't have time to think though, it isn't my fault"

Maya sighed as the person who kidnapped Mitra moved farther ahead, unless he suddenly got tossed off his horse, or it died, he wouldn't catch up.

((Teddylot! Jackpot! Triple seven's ))

Fortunately, the burly man didn't have that large of a brain, since he stopped at a rundown shack on the eastern outskirts of town. The man hopped off of the horse, with Mitra on his shoulder.

Hikari: Put some life into it, Glenn! Atleast we ain't keepin' bored.

As Hikari and Glenn become nearer to the shanty, Hikari leans forward on her horse and squints.

Hikari: Ten rupees that thing goes down in flames at the end of this.

Of course by the end of her sentence, Teddy had already left Luna in his dusty wake. The bear had the misfortune to pick out a near untamed beast, easily spooked by anything foreign than its regular rider. The horse galloped as if trying to outrun the beary intruder, and when unsuccessful, it tried harder and picked up speed.

Without the balance that he usually got from the stirrups, Teddy found it very difficult to cling to the horse's back. He had given up working on the reigns, for they had proved useless to the beast's fret; and thus, decided to cling to the saddle's horn and cling his big feet as tight as he could to the horse's side.

The horse and its victim sped easily past the Gurio Gang, Hikari and Glenn, and whoever else was in the chase. After closing his eyes for a second to avoid the latest patch of flying dust, Teddy opened them to find a possible head-on collision with the oddly misplaced shack. At this point, the bear gave up and let go. Thanks to the inertia from his ride, Teddy was sent flying into the shack's side with a thud and a squeak. The primitive piece of architecture threatened to lose its balance and collapse, but the rusty nails keeping it together seemed to be doing their job ... for the moment.

As for the borrowed horse, it just kept on running until finally realizing that the intruder had been successfully bucked. Pleased, it lowered its speed to a comforable trot and began to circle slowly as if to show its victory.

The fellow snapped out of his offline trance, lept to his feet as the parties rode off into the sunset, and suddenly got extremely determined to catch them. He grabbed his holy friend, and held him close.

Companion: "Hold on tight... This is gonna be rough."

Priest: "Erm, I'd rather take..."

The man raised his left leg and stood like a flamingo, as a large burst of steam released from his right foot, and he fired his leg off like a piston. The two of them rocketed into the air, and the chase was on!

"...A HORRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRSE!"

The leg extended and plowed into the dusty dunes for a landing, scattering sand everywhere, and the priest began thinking that maybe this wasn't so bad...

....Until the leg fired again. He screamed in terror, and the scarf-wearing gunslinger brought them another 20 feet closer to the chase. A dust cloud, a burst of steam, and a blood-curdling scream later, and it was quite clear that they were gaining on the group of riders.

Companion: "Come on, you pansy! We're almost there!"

Priest: "My innards feel like they're gonna---!"

Fire again...

"---Exploooooooooooooode!"

Companion: "Fine, fine!"

The priest felt a steel hand grip his shoulder, and the moment the companion felt he was in range with the group of riders, fired another piston in his arm, neatly depositing the priest directly onto the back of Hikari's horse, right behind her. The priest held on for dear life, clutching a small cross that lay around his neck, and began praying. The man sprung next to her horse, and kept pace with it as they rode...

Companion: "Howdy, ma'am. Miss me?"

Hikari: I honestly thought you were gonna charge into that there building. Part of me kinda wishes.

------------

Mitra: Ah don't understand what you're doin', suh.

Burly Man: Ah'm gonna succeed where all the slackjaw hicks didn'. Your purty lil' head will fetch a mah-ty nice ransom. And Ah'll be the first one to do it raht. Plus any lil' extras in the way... heh heh..

The burly man tries to steal a kiss from Mitra, but she immediately looks away. The man sneers and then drops her onto a seat.

Maya had been at a close second, only behind Teddylot because of her rather big head start. She found him on the ground and started poking him, not sure what he was.

Maya: "Hey, you alive? Hello? Gonna wake up anytime soon?"

Maye kept poking and asking questions, thinking that it'd actually go somewhere.

Luna, on the incredibly slow horse who seemed to be going slower, was thoroughly mad. She started grinding her teeth, than jumped off the horse and started running about 3x faster than it, still in dead last.

Luna: "I'm... going... to... kill her..."

Luna threat was follow by her tripped and hardly recovering right before she fell into a cactus, she got up and started to run again.

Maya: "You want to stay out here with the vultures?"

As if a vulture had been listening, it squawked threateningly, landing on the roof of the shack. It squawked again and Maya stared up at it, while still poking Teddylot.

Maya: "Come on, you don't want to be a vultures snack do you?"

Luna kept running, starting to actually gain on anyone who hadn't made it to the shack, she guessed she only had a few more minutes of a run left before she got there.

Maya: "Fine... rot out here."

Maya stood up and crouched below a window. She rose up as slow as she could, trying to get a peak of what was inside, trying to decide if she could just rush in, or if she should wait.

Luna: "OW!"

Luna had stepped onto a cactus and it scraped her leg and some of the needles stuck in. She looked at it, then started off running again, now regretting leaving the horse.

Teddy sat up instantly at Hikari's statement. With wide eyes, he looked around for whom she might be talking to. He turned his head towards Glenn, then towards Maya ... who was doing something ... freaky. He pointed at himself questioningly.

Teddy: I'm just here to get my horse, actually ... but I say you should use explosives if anything.

Hikari: Explosives? I reckon Glenn would give a mighty big objection to that, little one.

Hikari pulled out an arrow from her quiver, as well as her bow. She stepped over to the front door, and kicked the door.

Hikari: Alright! Let-- Eep!

She jumped off to the side as a cannonball shot through the door.

Burly Man: Gah! You ain't supposed ta have been lookin' so quick!

The burly man quickly loaded another canonball inside the cannon. He leapt behind the cannon and prepared to fire another.

Companion: "I'll take that, thanks!"

Before the burly man could fire, the tall fellow sprang forward, having caught up to the group at this point, and fired off his arm, sending a leather-clad steel hand directly into the barrel of the cannon. His fingers placed the cannonball in a vice-grip, and the man withdrew his arm, pulling the cannonball out and leaving the rather stupid kidnapper dumbfounded and without any ammo for the time being. The companion landed and raised the cannonball to face level, twirling it on his finger like a basketball.

"Ah, there we go... Simple enough, right right?"

The priest fell off of Hikari's horse and lay in a fetal position on the ground. He would DEFINITELY have to get used to this...

Priest: "Right..."

Maya was surprised they took the direct approach, didn't they think a trap would be set or something. She backed away from the window and just decided to watch for now. Since the man was about to be disposed of, Mitra should be fine...

Luna finally caught up to everyone, the shack now in view. She kept moving forward, at a much slower pace.

Luna: "Damn sun... damn earth... damn cactus..."
