Is my grammar good on the board?

Whenever I look over some of my posts, it seems like I abuse comma's often ...

Just thought I'd ask you guys. Is my grammar / comma usage fine?

Just go into my "Show Posts" and check out some of my posts I guess, hopefully some grammar whore's can help me out here.

I'm see you posting in the other forums but I say your grammar is good. I haven't noticed any abuse of the coomas before, only in my posts is where I abuse the commas. Look at me, I'm abusing the commas, don't you agree, yes?

HAH! That thought just crossed my mind, Xeo. I don't remember which post of yours I was reading, but I know I thought myself that you use commas where they aren't needed. Nice timing to make this thread.

That was better than mine, but seriously Xeolord I checked your osts from this one to your 3000th post and your grammar is just fine. Of course, I can't see your grammar in the restricted forum though.

I dunno, but you did ironically abuse an apostrophe in the thread title.

This makes me want to post BTAF's Quick Guide To The Apostrophe, You Idiots poster.

Edit: On second thought, I will. Hotlinking sucks but I'm not reuploading this over AOL.

At least your... not... abusing... ellipses...

I did that for... uhm, two years ago. People started PM'ing to me, begging me to stop doing that.

I tend to have my share of comma splices, which I believe comes from the fact that I barely had any formal grammar instruction, and so I simply dictate how I would speak out loud.

I'm going to write what I learned in English last year.
- Separate a series of nouns, adjectives, verbs, or any other part of speech, INCLUDING the last 2. Many people forget that.
- Separate descriptive phrases, introductory phrases, or identifying phrases.
- To bring together two independant clauses.
- To set up for a quote.
- To make a sentence clear.
- When it sounds like an obvious place for a comma. Keep in mind that when speaking, people can pause for effect whether or not it's proper english. That's where most people make the mistake in grammar.

And I aced that final.

Now do semicolons.

Semicolon; used where neither a colon or comma fit, but instead a combo of the two.

Semicolons are used in sentences where many commas are already used to help the flow. You put them in to separate the compound sentences to avoid using another comma, and that way it's obvious where the correct grammatical pause should be.

I almost always forget what I learn in school. Good thing we didn't have tests in english about punctuation marks, otherwise I would have failed because I can't remember all the rules to these punctuation marks.

My english teacher was a nut about grammar, and for our final last year she made us write how nearly every punctuation mark can be used and why. And I haven't quite forgotten yet. Bring it on, boys.

The english test I hate the most is that damn TAKS test which is only for Texas. I don't know how I passed it because all the answer choices look the same. I couldn't remember where the stupid comma goes. I just guessed for the remaining answers and passed it.

How about the dash/hyphen?

The only prefixes that require a hyphen are re- and non-. Everything else is WRONG.

I think I overuse smilies and the infamous "...", but aside from that, everything seems to be fine... I think.
