Which version of this game do you prefer? I prefer MK3. It had real down to earth (literally) stages and characters, and i loved the storyline. UMK3 had basically 2 extra characters which were shared to make all of the male and female ninjas, and they got rid of Sheeva. They got rid of all but two of the earth stages (rooftop and pit3) and they brought in a few new outworld stages. Also, they kept the same storyline? UMK3 was completely off what it was supposed to be and it lacked the realistic earth atmosphere that MK3 had.

Ultimate MK3 was an expansion to the original game. Hence why it wasn't called MK4. So with more stuff, of course I'll prefer it over the original.

Yeah but they got rid of just too many things. I'm referring to the SNES versions by the way.

Haven't played it, but maybe it could be possible that those stages were removed from the SNES version due to size restrictions.

UMK3 because MK3 left out some cool characters like Scorpion, Classic Sub-Zero with the masked, not the unmasked one that they have in MK3, and some other characters. UMK3 had almost all the characters from the original MK3 and the previous MK characters before that plus a few new ones like Noob Saibot.

Hated Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 on the SNES. The difficulty is truly insane. You win one fight with the computer, and the next the computer's difficulty seems to get bumped up to super insane difficulty.

Wait a moment, the whole MK series blew. The only decent one was the second one. Holding a separate button to block? No thanks.

I liked the difficulty. It was about the only time a fighter challenged me on zee SNES.

UMK3 had a huge leg up over regular MK3.

Honestly, if we were talking about the SNES versions... the original. I remember UMK3 being buggy and kinda eh compared to MK3.

I'll take UMK3 Arcade over MK3 however.

Wasn't there also MK Trilogy? It had like all the characters from all three and also some previous stages, no?

MK Trilogy was only for the next-gen systems though. Don't quote me on this, but I think it came out for PSX/Saturn/N64/PC. It was all right.

I'm not even sure if I've ever played Ultimate, so I guess I'm going with Mortal Kombat 3.

Umk3 has more characters...

I like Noob Saibot and Human Smoke. Beat the game once and had the code for one button fatalities.

I've played the PSX and N64 versions. They have some vast differences, number one being that the N64 version only has one Sub-Zero, which has all the moves of both Sub-Zero's. I think they gave him the classic model as well. Don't really remember too well, since it's been way too long. The N64 version also had one insane arcade mode. The first fight was against Kameleon* (female Kitana model, but pink naturally, forgot what her moves were) and every fight up was an endurance match until Shao Kahn. One of them was an endurance match with Kintaro and Goro I think as well. It was only accessible on the hardest difficulty, and was only on the highest ladder to climb. Have fun, I never did get past the third battle.

Overall, I prefer UMK3 to MK3, and PSX MKTrilogy over N64 MKTrilogy, even though they both had their perks.

--Edit--
*: Or maybe it was a male model that uses Scorpion, Sub-Zero, etc and had all of their moves? *shrug* I don't remember!
