| yes, there was..this is the 12934729 reincarnation of this thread SMB3 all the way--sure the SMW graphics are much prettier but this is one of the most memorable NES games outthere...i think SMW doesn't have the same place in SNES history though... |

| SMB3 is better because it was cool having 28 items that you can use and there's almost 20 different kinds of items to choose from. In SMW, you only get to hold 1 item and it's always replaced eassily when you get a power up. Also, I like the original music better than the remix version of SMB3 but I'm not fond of the SMW music because it's not as good as the SMB3. | |||

| I'd say Super Mario 3. It's always been my favorite Mario game on the SNES. I find it better than Mario World because of the graphics, the music, and different power ups--more, that is. | |||

| Super Mario World. I played through Super Mario Bros 3 just a few days ago with a friend, and you know what I found out? A lot of it is horrible level design, especially in world 7 (Because we ALL LOVE AUTOSCROLL, especially when it's combined with CRAPPY PHYSICS FOR WATER LEVELS and has JELLYFISH EVERYWHERE, right?) and the special items (read: Tanooki suit, hammer bros. suit, frog suit, p-wing) are the only thing that make it even tolerable. And those are fricking rare. And they're also inherently flawed - The Tanooki suit is just Racoon Mario with a statue function that's not particularly useful, the Frog Suit is just stupid, and the P-Wing... Oh, the P-Wing. The only thing anyone ever uses the P-Wing for is flying over an entire level. In Super Mario World, we have the cape for that, and it's stupid either way... Except that in Mario 3, there are levels that are more fun when you fly over them (read: Anything that autoscrolls, particularly in world 8, except for the navy, which you could go under, and the air ship, which was kinda fun). That shouldn't be. Only the Hammer Bros. Suit is at all cool, and it's not THAT great. Did I mention that oh so many of the levels are ridiculously short? I mean. Dammit. | The levels are short, but that's becuase you can't save your progress. If you could, I'm sure they'd make it longer. This is a cool SMB3 trick I learned: enter level that has Tanooki suit with P-Wing. When you get the Tanooki suit, you still have infinite flight!  Unfortunately, this doesn't work on the map screen.  |

| The only reasons i don't like SMB3 are: 1. Poor sound quality 2. Poor graphic quality, 8-bit. 3. You can't save. 4. You can't revisit levels and worlds you have already completed. 5. There is no cape. BUT!! Ya know what? NONE of these disadvantages apply to SMA4. It's not a fair poll when a NES game is put up against a SNES game, even if the NES game wins, so, i'm not going to vote. If this was a SMA2 / SMA4 poll, SMA4 would be my choice. | |||

| SMB3 all the way. Even with nes graphic the SMB3 mario is way much better than the SMW one. SMB3 mario has animations in his face when he walks and the SMW mario is just so horrible.  |
