Well, I'd say science since the whole atoms and particles thing makes sense. I mean, that's way more believable (to me) than heaven and hell. In a weird twist, i believe more the unbelievable stuff on religion - the karma/energies/etc part. But anywho, i'll go with science. It explains it with PROOF ... you know. On a different note.. Geezus, did a whole flood os us aussies join the board?? |

As I wrote in my mid-term paper on this subject, there is no actual conflict between the two, and the whole Science vs. Religion thing is moot. Science explains the physical, while religion explains the spiritual. Thus, I will choose both. |

The subject was Norwegian. For our Norwegian mid-terms, we are given a pamphlet with a bunch of different information on some kind of theme. This year's theme was "Nature". Then, come mid-terms, we are given a list of question to choose from (where we pick one), and one of them was about Science vs. Religion, which I picked.

I those both the same because there is no "who cares" option. But I hate how scientists are always out to prove things. |

I like how Scientists are always out to prove things -- or rather learn things about the world around us. Without so many scientists, we wouldn't be living in this world we are now, with computers and such.... Besides, FallenWarrior, if you don't care, why post, or vote? I prefer Science over Religion, however I am not a religious person myself. I like to learn about what makes the world around us "tick" so to speak. |

Dunno why I voted. Scientists can be cool sometimes. But the thing that drives me crazy is when they try getting it through peoples' heads when they say that EVERYTHING can be proving, and they're out to prove or disprove things. It get's old. |

Science is an indispensable pursuit of the human race, but religion is more important. Long after our cities collapse and our computers cease to work, there will still be the supreme being, regardless of who or what you believe that being to be.

You know...I actually did this as my major paper for my PHIL 110 class last semester...lemme see if I can dig up the file... Right here... It was written a few months ago...but it's about the same views as I hold now...it's either way. They're both beliefs that aren't 100% proven in either way...it's up to the individual to choose what they want to believe; whether if they're swayed by people or not. I can't very well condemn someone for their beliefs more than I can condemn someone for being the person that they are...I'll take a good person who believes in nothing or doesn't know what to believe versus a close-minded religious asshole, and vice-versa...it doesn't matter, whatever religion. All I usually ask in the subject is for people to keep an open mind about things...and possibly mix a few things into their belief system...or try a few things out that wouldn't negatively affect where you're at now...just to see what works and what doesn't. Plus, like I said, don't really care what people worship, I don't really go for anything, my mother goes for the Christianic belief a lot and her sister is in the Wiccan belief...it's a vast majority of choice nowadays and as I said, up to the individual. So anyways, yea...both are about the same, I just care about if the person's an asshole more than anything. |

Religion can't be proved without Science. It is also Science that kept the churches from getting too much ruling power WAAY back in history. Hey, I learned that in World History II, and I haven't been able to use it until today. |

This whole question doesn't work. Why? Science is based on fact. Religion is based on faith. Thus, this question is kind of....borked. |

well, just to argue.... science is based on theory.... many MANY of which have never been proven and are just some guys guess at what is going on in the world.... doesn't sound too different from religion to me but I picked both, since both explain different things in different ways.... and I haven't found that they conflict.... I wouldn't say this question is.. err.. borked. Often, Science and Religion conflict one another. Take the Christian theory of how the world came to be and how humans were created versus Darwins Theory of evolution. They both conflict one another. I watched this strange documentary on Jesus yesterday, it was on CNN. I'm not much of a christian even though I was baptised and confirmed.. but I decided to watch some of it anyways. They were proving religion with science. They said the bible was off on many marks.. such that Jesus was actually born in April because there was a Star in the East at this time, and it occured at 6 B.C. instead of what they thought it was. I guess what I'm trying to say is that.. Science can give us information about the world up to a certain point.. but after that it's all about faith and what you beleive. I have my own set of beleifs and my own religion.. and you would probably all think I was nuts if I ever shared it.. soo.. that's that. I picked both, btw.. Heck, people can beleive whatever they want. And, many people choose religion over science, and vice-versa. So, therefore, they are both more beleivable than each-other at the same time. _________________ SnowTomato, your layout is hard to read for people with high resolutions like me. I actually believe a combination of both. However, if you want to get technical... Science bombs every church and god is too apathetical to stop them. |
