I remember when I was young, when DKC 1,2 and 3 came out. I used to get them for christmas. INow I decided to replay tham. , 2 and 3. Took me a week. Took me one week to beat all three games. Of course, I haven't found all the bonus rooms, but it made me laugh. When I was young, I used to find DKC 2 really hard. Especially the lost world. Now it's just, like ,normal. Not hard, just easy. I just take my time at some places to not get hit and without knowing it, I'm at K.Rool. I think it was because I used to run and going too fast in the games, I dunno, but while playing, I've said to myself: I've used to find that hard ?

hehe...yeah, when I was young, i thought SMB3 was difficult..but now looking back, it isn't hard at all--i dunno if having the strategy guide for the game made a difference but playing any mario game isn't hard

I thought SMRPG was hard, especially after I got to Yardovich. I died when I first played it. I had to return the game after that because I was rented it. When I got the rom, everything was easy because I understand how to use a strategy unlike when I first played.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time was WAY above my head when I was little. I had to have my relatives help me do everything in the game. Slowly, I learned about players guides and actually thinking. Then I came really close to beating the game myself a year ago... And found out Zelda was still over my head.

It's a very simple concept.

Earlier in your gaming life, you have less experience. You don't have as many other games to go by past experiences with.

Later on, you learn more about video games, and you play more of them, and you can use experience in one game for a completely unrelated game without even realizing it. In such a way, it's possible to get batter at a game without even playing it.

But the original Legend of Zelda is still hard, as is Zelda 2...

Zelda 2, I've said before, and I'll say again, is the single hardest game I have ever played. I've never even gotten to the third dungeon before my NES or emulator went haywire.

But yeah, for the longest time, I was missing tons of the hidden extras on DKC2, but with a ton of patience and curiosity, I finally reached the Lost World (without a strategy guide). Acing a DKC game without a strategy guide is very tough to do, trust me.

I used to think Mega Man 1 was hard, but man, is that game easy. I could probably get through it on a single life if I really tried.

As with Ziff, I don't think my skill has really changed. Damn, I've always been awesome.

But truly, I was beating games like Blaster Master, Metroid, any Megaman game, and so on when I was like 5-8 years old.

When I was extremely young, like 4 years old, I had trouble with bosses in SMB3, but that's about it. It's awesome, there's a video that my family has for my 4th birthday party, and I had a few friends over. This young girl was playing SMB, and she wasn't doing good, so I took the controller and helped her out a bit and told her what to do.

I sucked at SMRPG when I was younger though, simply because I didn't understand the concept of an RPG at the time, I didn't know you "should" fight, to level up and stuff. When I got the "See Ya" item (which allows you to run away from battles no matter what) I'd always use it, so I'd hardly level up. I also remember I would only boost my HP when I leveled up, so my characters had low stats, but in the end every character had like over 230 HP or something. However I was still able to beat the game.

I mean yeah, you do get better at older games that you played in the past, because you "know" what to do. And old games are just something you can go through in a few days, and so on.

I can't say I've really noticed a difference in how good I am at games right now compared to when I was younger either

The only game I ever had trouble with, was Joshua, in the later levels. They required a bit of planning, as in some, you had to do things one specific way, and anything else you tried would result in you having to restart the level. Now, provided I can get the game to work in our NES, and get to some of those levels, I can take a bit more time to plan out what I should do, and hopefully beat the level. There's still an old book me and my brother worked on, that has all the codes for the levels that we were able to get to. It's still not complete though

We only had a NES, with about 25 games for most of my childhood though, I'm rather limited in games I'm good at now, that I wasn't before

Oh yeah. Super Mario RPG and Link to the Past were way hard... Now I can finish off SMRPG in like a few hours, and LTTP is nothing special (though I haven't got around to finishing it ).

For me, it's an excat opposite. Back in NES, I used to beat games like SMB3, Mega Man 3, TMNT 3, The Legend of Zelda, Duck Tales I and Duck Tales II very easily. Now, few days ago when I played, in SMB3, I don't even have average control anymore. Same goes for other games mentioned above.

I think it has to do with increased control over basic motor functions. As a child, I couldn't beat the first level of Bionic Commando, much less figure out how to use the damn communicator. Today, I can breeze through it in a scant hour or two.

Yeah, SMB3 was pretty hard when I first played it. Usually World 5 and up were the ones that were hard for me. If I'm lucky enough to make it to the boss of the world usually Roy and Ludwig were the ones that I died on because of their power. I never made it to Bowser when I was little but somehow made it to World 8 but got stuck in the fortress because it was confusing. As of today, I have no problem getting pass any of the levels because I played them too many times.

I can say however, my "look" on games has changed.

I played Link to the Past a lot when I was young, about 5-7 years old. Thing is though, I never owned it (up until a few years ago). I'd always rent the game and have to start over from the beginning.

But it was weird, when I'd play the game, I felt like I was in this huge gigantic world that went on forever, and I almost felt like I was there.

Random, but yeah, I just felt like saying that.

I sucked at video games when I was 6. I still suck at video games, but to a slightly lesser extent. I used to find beating SMB3 really hard. Now I just find it hard. I used to think Gargoyle's Quest was the hardest game ever. Now I've finally beaten it, and it has been replaced with...actually, I can't think of any, so it still stands as the hardest game ever. But I beat it, damnit.

So, uh, yeah. I suck.

I actually noticed that too. I seem to have got worse at certain games. Maybe I'm just not playing them enough. Like I used to be able to smoke Wizpig in the second race in Diddy Kong Racing (oddly enough, not the first; I could beat it, but not totally kick his ass), but now I can barely beat him. I suppose it's because back then I played the hell out of it and practiced that level for days, then go back to it after not playing much and not playing that level at all.

I recently stumbled into an old game, anyone remember Super Mario Land? Here's the story, my mom is planning to have a garage sale this coming Saturday and looking for crap to sell. This story takes place last Saturday. Anywa, I asked here what the hell are you doing because I didn't know at that time. After I was done talking to her, a saw a Game Boy cartridge. I haven't seen one of those in ages so I took a look to see what game it was and sure enough it was SML. I rushed to play it on my GBA because I haven't played it scene before the Y2K crap. I thought it was be hard because it was for me when I was younger but it was easy.
I had over 320,000 points and 14 lives or so at the end of World 4, something that I didn't see coming. Wow, Tantaga was such a joke because he was pwned by small Mario and avoiding his attacks were just so easy.
