He did. At least in one level. There was an igloo stage that was so cold, the fireballs would become ice balls that would freeze coins and munchers.

Weren't there just trowable Ice-Blocks? And some frozen Coins and stuff?
That was in SMB3 before any was gonna hack that game. But DD made a new Powerup, wich freezes coins and let them use as platforms.

I wouldn't call that stealing, but creativity and knowledge to put it off.

Actually, I'd bet Ice Mario was one of his easier hacks to do. If he could find the code from World 6 that makes fireballs remove the "ice state", all he'd have to do is add a new power up with properties to give the "ice state" instead of taking it away.

The real question is: Does it work on things that aren't Munchers or coins? Personally, I'd like to see other things changed into regular ice blocks.

Actually, the Ice power is a very recent addition to the hack. There isn't an ice "state" per say for coins, there's a frozen coin object, then there's the coin object. I had to create a new routine that detected when a fireball was on a coin, but, I also had to make sure it was from Ice Mario, not Fire Mario. Then I had to make sure the screen drew an frozen coin object in place of a coin object. Let's just say, it required me to bankswitch because the code it took to pull this off was too much to fit in the current spot it would have been in. It doesn't freeze munchers, in fact, munchers don't exist anymore

Giant Munchers do! Though I doubt anyone really expects to be able to freeze them.

If there are giant munchers I don't think he could find a way to do that but at the same time i think he can do that.

Very well; I will challenge you! I want you to turn SMB3 into SMW (with the oldschool 8-bit gfx, of course). If you can do that, than I will, seriously, hail you as a god.

Oh come on guys, give me a break. Stupid ideas won't make it here. Some ideas are possible but require so much work that it would just delay the hack even more. Why don't I just turn SMB3 into a River City Randoms style beat'em up game?

Seriously, I'm here to modify SMB3. There may be a TON of additions in this hack, but the core of it is still SMB3. It still feels like SMB3 and will always play like SMB3.

NES graphics are 2bpp -- ie: 2 bit graphics.

SNES isn't even 8-bit.
